Trivia: Which major UK town has the least direct route from London?

Wrexham General? Not so bad timewise at 2hr 36min on the one and only direct service. But still strange as it first heads North on the "down" line (rather than the historical ex-GWR Paddington "up") before joining the N.Wales route via Chester and then at last Southward from Crewe.

    The wrong Peckham

Three similar sounding destinations which caused occasional confusement back in my BR days were Wrexham, Hexham and Wroxham. Very often by visitors from over the Atlantic landing at Heathrow! Sadly not much help when they arrived at Wrexham on the last train of the night, expecting to visit...

Effect of strike on Tuesday 26 May?

Actually, just realised I have via an annual policy normally used for abroad. Never even thought of UK usage, so thanks for pointing it out.:p

Effect of strike on Tuesday 26 May?

I stood to lose several hundred pounds worth of holiday if this strike had gone ahead, but rather than blaming everybody simply waited until the ACAS talks took place. As at all times there are two sides to every story, both parties no doubt felt they held the moral upper ground. Just thankful...
