Automation and Train Driver Job Security

Of course you could have a system which accounts for any irregularities of the track. Visual recognition systems are making leaps and bounds. Look car which know when to emergency break automatically.

Automation and Train Driver Job Security

Again, automated train services across the world have shown the ability of systems to stop trains at the desired spots.

Automation and Train Driver Job Security

I would be okay with riding in a driverless train, provided said automated system passes all safety checks and has a pristine record. You have automated trains in Japan, China and other countries in the world. I don't really think customer perspective comes into consideration - people just want...

    Incorrectly conducted assessment?

Yep. When I had my assessment, there were 2 assessors, so the chances of there being an error and both of them missing it would be a bit low in my opinion. OP is probably worrying about nothing, to be honest.

Question regarding sickness days and applying for a new job

Thanks mate! Yes, my chest infection was certainly not helped by the fact that I kept going into work, and breathing in fumes when cutting away homes to check for fire spread....

Question regarding sickness days and applying for a new job

Yep. I contacted my HR, and they told me they wouldn't release my sickness details. :)

    Incorrectly conducted assessment?

Hey, I too did the assessment today in Glasgow. Yes, the time went very fast for the dial one - I was a bit surprised too. Probably no wrong-doing though... Hopefully. I mean, even if there was, if EVERYONE failed on that part, surely they'd look at it and lower the pass mark accordingly...

    Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

Wow! I'm surprised you can still remember - I had my job interview for my current role about 5 years ago, and I can barely remember what they asked me! :D

Question regarding sickness days and applying for a new job

Hello, I just got off the phone with the team at my fire rescue service office which deals with supplying references for fire fighters who are hoping to go for another job. I've been told that the fire rescue service will never supply sickness days, and that they would only supply name...

    Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

Oh, I see! I certainly won't lie, but it's good to see that there's a discussion to discuss my sickness record, rather than just a black and white overview of it. Do you know if they ask about it in the interview?

Question regarding sickness days and applying for a new job

No, at no point in the application form did the employer ask about my attendance.

    Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

I have a train driver scotrail applicant on another thread say that they were asked how many days they were sick in the past year, and how many times they had been to the doctor, at the medical?

Scotrail Train Driver - how far back does scotrail check your sickness days?

It's just something I've never come across... But I suppose it shows you're high risk if you keep going to the doctor. Can you tell me how long was between your assessments, to your interview, then your medical? Sorry about such specific questions - I'm just worried about sick days I've accrued.

Scotrail Train Driver - how far back does scotrail check your sickness days?

Hi. Thanks for the info. When was the medical, and was it for the train driver post? If it's 1 year, I should be okay, depending on when the medical is.... Bit strange they'd ask you how many times you've been to the doctor... Can they check this?

Scotrail Train Driver - how far back does scotrail check your sickness days?

Slightly different. First one was asking if I could be rejected due to sickness days. Second one is asking specifically how far back Scotrail checks sickness days.

    Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

Hi. Glad it went well - I have mine on Tuesday. Is it every test in the PDF files which they sent out to us? Was a fairly big pack. Or is it 3, and they pick and choose which ones they want to test us on?

Scotrail Train Driver - how far back does scotrail check your sickness days?

Hi I just need to know how far back Scotrail looks with regard to your sickness days. I'm going for train driver role. Within the last year, I was sick 4 times from November till April . These were because of chest infections. I have been clear since late May 2018. Before that, I was sick in...

Question regarding sickness days and applying for a new job

Do you remember how long ago this was? And what timeframe the rail company looked at? In all honesty, I think it'll just show up as general sickness, since it's not legal to show personal medical info.
