Can radio-controlled clocks work on electric railways?

Interesting - Theres an EMC issue here possibly. That said where are you? Just says London here. The MSF move to Anthorn may well be partly to blame but its been years now! Although it IS run by Babcock so... ;) Got access to a Spectrum Analyser

Can radio-controlled clocks work on electric railways?

MSF operates at 60kHz - its possible that the frequency is covered in hash from the electronic systems of the train, or that you're just inside a very well constructed & grounded faraday cage when you're inside one.

    LNER cab and sim

Trash reply from LNER. Platform staff haven't a hope. I've done the sim visit to KX - there's a 91 & an IET there. And a couple of cab runs. They were pretty simple to arrange BUT I did have the right people on the other end of an email .

Bluetooth interference at Liverpool St station

2.4 gigs is horribly congested & unregulated. I'm at STP on Thursday with a Spectrum Analyser, if someone reminds me I'll take a plot of just how bad the noise is in that part of the spectrum in public places (or just about anywhere populated) these days.

Bristol Clean Air Zone - trains excepted.

Nope, it was far more profitable to have designed and built their technical facilities

Bristol Clean Air Zone - trains excepted.

What Bristol suffers from is too many hand wringing hippies & wanting to find a cash cow. They're all brainwashed with the eco-nonsense-babble like the Just Stop Oil plonkers. You can't bill your way out of a few diesel fumes anyway.

Could diesel locomotives cause more global waming than what steam locomotives did?

No becasue the whole thing is a load of piffle anyway

Tunnel work on 10th September cut a cable

Yep. OTDR. Optical Time-Domain Reflectometry. I own a machine that does just what you describe. Its a network operator function to do this though & carrier equipment may well have the ability to do an OTDR run if it loses light on the link, although its likely this cable was carrying serveral...

Tunnel work on 10th September cut a cable

Sounds like a situaiton I narrowly avoided at Worldpay when I took over running their datacentres. Large diesel in the car park for the backoffice functions (and core routing for the whole company!) - diesel polished as had been sat forever...once that was done I purged the crap out of the...

Your puns are almost as bad as mine :D:lol:

PSNI Stop Tickets Being Sold To Helen's Bay (Northern Ireland Railways)

Yes but crucially, there is nothing in law to give them the power either. Thats the crucial bit. We do not live in a country where things are "prohibited unless prescribed by law" for the people. We do however live in a country where, Police forces etc must be given the power to do something...

Well then, the thread title is misleading, isn't it?

PSNI Stop Tickets Being Sold To Helen's Bay (Northern Ireland Railways)

PSNI don't have the power to do so! But then acting outside of the law hasn't bothered them before I guess... Helens Bay is hardly big enough for that many people anyway in terms of beach space. There is plenty of parking too. There is always the option to walk round to Crawfordsburn beach, or...

Could TOCs make it compulsory to wear headphones if listening to electronic devices?

"Compulsory" - you cannot force someone to wear them. That would be assault...
