West Midlands 30-year Rail Strategy: 2018-47

Prohibitively expensive, so yes, can't might not be quite the right word. But definitely highly, highly unlikely.

West Midlands 30-year Rail Strategy: 2018-47

6tph at every station between Moor St and Dorridge sounds lovely but is also comical without redoubling, which won't/can't happen, or kicking out XC and freight paths. And even then, one sniff of a delay and the timetable will collapse into pieces.

Delay Repay - Intentionally Catching Late Trains

Very much doubt that a TOC would seriously come after someone for this. As long as you do indeed travel on the train that is delayed, you have no requirement to provide a justification for why you chose to use any particular service that it is valid for your ticket to be used on. I suspect...

Collecting an Advance after it was meant to start..

I bought an advance from Gatwick Airport to Birmingham, then my flight time got moved later, so I amended the advance to later in the day. I have the amendment ticket coupons; but not the original ticket and am now abroad until to the tickets are needed. So I will be attempting to collect a...

Stansted makes more sense to get to for plenty of north+east Londoners than Heathrow or Gatwick so I can see the logic. But the capacity is indeed staggering, 7?8? are A380 as well. Flight was full, but then again they were still selling £130 one way tickets 5hrs before departure so it's not...

Yeah it was on a 737 max. I had booked a while ago and got a seat selection + meal fare, so I was in an exit row which made it far more civilised then standard economy on a bigger plane, being able to do this makes Norweigan massively attractive even if they weren't cheaper. No ife screen may be...

Flew New Orleans - BWI - Providence on Southwest then onto Norweigan to Dublin and then hopped the Irish Sea on Ryanair earlier this week. One thing that struck me about the Norweigan flight was the demographics of the flight. Clearly the schools aren't out yet so not surprising there were no...

"Uber loses its licence to operate in London"

It's very noting that this isn't TfL throwing it's toys out of the Pram at the principle of a uber-style service being allowed in London, rather the specifics of Uber being shoddy and not meeting the minimum standards to run cabs in London. And these minimum standards are not massive...

    Aviation Discussion

Just looked at the Wikipedia page to see who else flies to Mauritius from Europe and it would appear that there is a lot of new routes there being started this winter or spring 18. eurowings from Munich, KLM/air maritius to Amsterdam, Thompson with charters from a spread of places in...

Gee that's bad. I hope everyone finds out they can claim compensation and hammer Ryanair on it.

What would the Easy/Norweigan combo been if you had booked each airlines legs as separate return legs on their respective websites though? The high "low cost" price could just be because of their individual legs are selling well so are high priced now.

No idea if it is too long - but remember the onward flight can only be on Norweigan or Westjet currently.

Which airline do you prefer to travel with out of British Airways or Virgin Atlantic?

Virgin are better than BA but from the Birmingham area for long haul it is usually cheaper and better all round experience to go via a European hub, on Air France, KLM or Lufthansa.

Do rail fares need to be made simpler?

Except that the standard class fare is 9.50. So a near trebling of price for the privilege of 1st. And it's valid on exactly the same trains.

DB running trains from London to Germany - any progress?

It may work if there is a reasonable demand for the ability to work the morning on the train on the way to Germany, then get half a day in the afternoon there, then 1 or 2 full days there followed by a 5-6pm departure back to London. I can see why people would prefer this to a 2 day trip with...
