    Anti-glare lenses for driving

I need glasses for distance vision, and have recently started as a trainee driver. I've noticed a lot of glare from signals when driving at night, worse than with traffic lights on the road. It's not unbearable or a safety issue, just sometimes a bit annoying. I was wondering if any drivers...

A USA rail enthusiasts discovers British Rail in 1988!

These days it's mostly Class 158s, like this:

East Coast Trains - Is this still going ahead?

You'd think so, but I think the plan is that most nights the units will be living up in Edinburgh or down in London.

East Coast Trains - Is this still going ahead?

It's a shame that First Capital Connect was already used up, given the nature of the route!

East Coast Trains - Is this still going ahead?

If you all really think this will launch as 'East Coast Trains' with the boring circle logo after all the fuss about reimagining travel etc, you're daft

A USA rail enthusiasts discovers British Rail in 1988!

That route is scenic enough, but that far north the Pennines have mostly petered out. I think a better one in that region for dramatic scenery would be the Settle to Carlisle line, which cuts directly through the mountain range. I would still recommend a Newcastle visit for a couple of nights...

Congrats! I think it'll take another few tries for me but who knows?

Trainee Train Driver (and now qualified/'part-qualified') - Newcastle - East Coast Trains

Yeah I just felt like I never lost my initial nerves and also didn't have great answers to a couple of the tougher questions. It's a shame because the first interview and the MMI both went very well. Still, the fact that I gave what I thought were weak answers have encouraged me to look at what...

Trainee Train Driver (and now qualified/'part-qualified') - Newcastle - East Coast Trains

I mean after my final interview I probably wouldn't hire me, but we'll see how it goes!!!

Trainee Train Driver (and now qualified/'part-qualified') - Newcastle - East Coast Trains

Is for some, not for others. Everyone will find different parts more difficult. Two-hand coordination is tricky because all you know is that speed AND accuracy are important. That doesn't mean you can NEVER leave the track, but who knows how many times is too many, or how slow is too slow? Some...

Trainee Train Driver (and now qualified/'part-qualified') - Newcastle - East Coast Trains

I drove and parked at Grainger Town car park. £7 for the day and very tight ramps in and out. Not sure what the hotel car park is like.

Trainee Train Driver (and now qualified/'part-qualified') - Newcastle - East Coast Trains

Well, the research I did on here (especially this post) gave me a pretty good idea about what to expect from the tests, so read that if you haven't already. That put my mind at ease for the paper and computer based tests. In terms of nerves, I was mostly nervous about the MMI, but it was very...

Trainee Train Driver (and now qualified/'part-qualified') - Newcastle - East Coast Trains

Thanks! I'm nervous about the MMI, but the other stuff should at least not be too terrifying, whether I do well or not!

Still nowt! Getting impatient now, but moreso paranoid that my email got lost somewhere

Anyone got an email through with more details yet? Hoping I'll be less nervous once I find a bit more out, but probably not!
