Continental European station hotels with free train travel included

Judging from how the free transport are given out also to event ticketholders, it seems to be easy/cheap for hotels to offer full VRR validity in this area. But not generally the chain hotels I think, just Intercity, and small mom and pop outfits which may not have much Internet presence.

Inappropriate behaviour & threats by the police citing Covid 19 regulations

So equally a leisure train trip from Leeds to York could result in a Fixed Penalty Notice?

Inappropriate behaviour & threats by the police citing Covid 19 regulations

How should one answer this? I would be stumped in the heat of the moment.

Should the public challenge railway staff over Covid measures?

Journalist Dominic Lawson posted this experience from a Southeastern train: "So I got up from my seat and suggested to the two railwaymen that perhaps they should follow the instructions given to their passengers and consider setting an example. This did not go down well. The larger of them, a...

Should bus windows be locked open to improve ventilation?

Iceland has attributed 100 infections to two bars that 2 French tourists visited. The thinking seems to be that lack of ventilation caused aerosols to linger in the air. A bus is a similar-sized environment to a small bar so I think that open windows is a good idea, as well as other measures...

Should bus windows be locked open to improve ventilation?

That's right. As winter approaches, people will be worried about being cold, but maximum ventilation seems more important.

Should bus windows be locked open to improve ventilation?

Having almost argued with a fellow passenger about keeping the windows open, I wonder whether bus companies should take the choice out of the passengers' hands and just lock them open?

Notre Dame de Lorette - metro accident 30/08/2000

I have just seen that a Paris metro accident happened 20 years ago at Notre Dame de Lorette. From what I have been able to find online, speed seems to have been the reason, travelling at 70km/h. Is this something that could happen today...

Journey planner allowing user to specify a maximum leg time

Thank you. Dr Shengjie Lai of University of Southampton was studying transmission of COVID on trains and found that: "a safe social distance of more than one metre is required for one hour spent travelling together. After two hours of contact...less than 2.5 metres may be insufficient to...

Journey planner allowing user to specify a maximum leg time

Is there a journey planner that allows the user to specify a maximum leg time? eg. passenger wants to spend less than one hour at a time on a train, so a journey query for Manchester to Birmingham would return a change at Stoke, for example. The reason could be toilet breaks, anxiety, or...

Overnight ferries - more danger from air con in inside cabins than outside ones?

Given that air con can circulate the virus, is there is any advantage to choosing an outside cabin on overnight ferries? I am thinking of the Harwich and Hull routes.

    Trainsplit sending data to Facebook?

This feature is on 100k apps! I had had no idea it was so widespread, clearly Trainsplit is doing nothing out of the ordinary: The above is from https://medium.com/macoclock/apple-is-killing-a-billion-dollar-ad-industry-with-one-popup-2f83d182837f

    Trainsplit sending data to Facebook?

Apparently they create shadow profiles for everyone. The average Facebook user will consent to sharing their phone contact list and email account with Facebook, and from that they can build a database of everyone. There are examples of lawyers and their clients being suggested to each other...

    Best App for purchasing tickets

Amazing to see Trainline getting recommended for something! Can you also get cashback when using the app? Am I right in thinking that Trainline will also split tickets but not as well as Trainsplit?
