What's this dipped platform section for?

I think it is a crossing point. This view from Google Street View makes it seem a bit more clear. The square fenced off area in the link appears to be the same one that's shown in the left of the original photo.

    Lothian Buses and ECB Discussion

Glasgow Queen Street refurbishment and remodelling

That video is an older visualisation. I think that was from when the Buchanan Galleries extension into the current car park and over Cathedral Street was still going ahead. After they pulled out, they released a much more scaled down design, which can be seen in this newer visualisation:

Possible to 'sleep' at Waverley overnight?

St Andrews Bus Station, which is definitely within 500m, let alone 5 miles, has recently been rebuilt (within the last 15 years or so), but feels as modern as a brand new bus station! I can't say it's particularly welcoming to spend the night but it's a damned sight better than roughing it!;)

Possible to 'sleep' at Waverley overnight?

There's a Genting (I think) on York Place, only a 5-10 minute walk away from Waverley. Edit...

Missing but wished-for features on trains

The Barcelona metro just uses a small arrow on the PIS to show which side the doors will open. That's surely something that can be implemented easily?
