Trivia: shortest possible journey that can be made on each TOC?

I would have thought Folkestone West to Central would take some beating?

London 2012: Southeastern publishes new timetable

Erm the HS1 annual season ticket is about £1,000 per annum more than a "classic". The letter did say "this amount has been calculated...blah blah" but as Southeatern offer me £19.15 by way of a "full fare" refund for a delay of 2 hours+, yet the true (off peak) fare is £35, I've given up...

London 2012: Southeastern publishes new timetable

I commute in from Folkestone on a daily basis - I received a letter from Southeastern telling me they were giving me £40 in rail vouchers for the inconvenience.

    Who has nicest commuting trains

I've commuted on SWT from Bookham and Fleet, & now from Folkestone on South Eastern over the years and have used the following: Bookham 455 (unrefurbished) to Waterloo - poor (Connex) 4 VEP (?) to London Bridge via Sutton - excellent as included declassified 1st class! Fleet 450/444 -...

HS1 - Stratford to Liverpool Street

Just spoken to a very helpful man at South Eastern who has confirmed the ticket IS valid and head office have been in touch with TFL etc and sorted this. He said "it obviously depends on how effective their communication with their frontline staff is as to whether this filters through for your...

HS1 - Stratford to Liverpool Street

Snickster - If you were there to catch the 05.58 we probabaly had a chat! THe staff at Stratford did let me through although they did say they were instructed to do so today "to prevent them being abused"!

HS1 - Stratford to Liverpool Street

The posters did indeed say the service was running until September 20th but according to the Southeastern bod at Stratford he received an e mail at 00.10 this morning advising that they were going to be withdrawn a week early....

HS1 - Stratford to Liverpool Street

Morning all - just made the same journey I have for the last 2 years from Folkestone to Liverpool Street via HS1, leaving at Stratford International and picking up a train at Stratford regional into Liverpool Strret. Today is the first day that the bus connection service (provided by...

South Eastern STL bad weather refunds

I overheard a conversation between 2 other commuters this morning, that due to their performance during the recent bad weather, South Eastern would be allowing a discount off STL renewals. This is contrary to what I've been told only last week by their customer relations team and also their...

    How is HS1 domestic doing

I use the HS1 from Folkestone daily and depite working in the City find it fantastic, although I gather the main issues are with the "other" route where very little time saving is made and the premium is still charged. There is no issue with the trains not having first class - there is ample...

    HS1 supplements question

I use it every day from Folkestone West to Stratford International. For the extra £900 a year it saves me 11 hours a week on the "Classic" timetable when taking into account the extra time I get at home. The trains have ample leg room and are bright. They are not too crowded at the moment, and...

    Car park charges

Indeed the machines are run by Meteor but the signs are South Eastern. The usual response I get from the station staff is "nothing to do with us" in respect to the car park. The machine won't issue a ticket unless you put £3 in.

    Car park charges

Perhaps not strictly the right place for thsi rant, but noticed this morning that parking charges at Folkestone West had increased 50% from £2 to £3 - a small note on the machine said this while all the signposts still show the old price. Also weekend charges have been intrduced for the fist...

    Stratford International

How can a new service have been introduced with such a messy fares structure? Ha ha - coz South Eastern are involved!

    For HS1 Fans

I had a joke with one of the platform staff last night that if HS1 was running to timetable then it would be an improvement on the normal service! And amazingly for just about the first time since the new timetable was introduced it ran exactly to time!

    How Late is Late?

Nope - I have had it confirmed that (for example) during the snow earlier in the year when not one single train ran there were no void days declared for that period - nor have any been during the 3 years I have travelled with them.

    How Late is Late?

How would the South Eastern services that didn't run at all on December 22 due to snow count towards late statistics? SER don't use the void days scheme as SWT do, so do they simply not count towards any statistics that might end up in the form of a performance discount for annual season ticket...

    South Eastern 23/12

None of this comes as a surprise to me. South Eastern advertised that on the 22nd they were running "a Saturday service with additional HS1 services". When I rang their "customer services" line to try and find out the times of the additional services on 3 seperate occasions I was told: 1)...

    South Eastern Season Tickets

Ok - but for example earlier in the year there were no services at all to London due to the weather (February this year I think?) - so why are there no void days declared or any discount for lateness? Or do cancelled trains simply not count so they could in theory cancel every train for the...
