The passageways between Platforms 19 & 20 (Main & former International parts) seemed to be closed on the two occasions I visited Waterloo today. Not sure if appropriate signage was provided to notify passengers of this; quite a few were puzzled after walking half way down Pl 19.

Yes, it is due to close in April, a specific date has not been given yet. And the temporary footbridge is now open to the public I believe. I will keep an eye out for changes in signalling in the area.

I can think of a few sources of error. The guard may have read the time incorrectly, or the platform clocks may have been showing the wrong time in the first place. Or perhaps they saw the signal clear and decided it must be time to go. But unless the train left immediately, I'd think that...

Looking through the platform-facing windows, there doesn't seem to be much happening on that side. To me, it looked like it was being used to store electrical equipment, but there may be more to it.

Yes, Hounslow and Syon Lane take 8 coaches maximum. Isleworth takes 7 or 8, depending on stock used. The remaining Hounslow loop stations are all long enough for 10 cars (I think) but that still doesn't stop the 707 PIS announcing short platforms from time to time.
