Trivia: travelling forever in the same "direction"

Outer rail Circle line trains continue to be described as "via High St Kensington and Paddington" after departure from Victoria westbound. If stood at Gloucester Road, you can notice it change to just "Edgware Road" as it departs from Platform 2. Well, that's how it was before the first...

    Feltham area resignalling

A few (hopefully relevant) questions & updates: • Spotted a few 'AWS ramp-like' devices installed on the track in the Richmond area. In part, they are bright green in colour, but much flatter than an AWS ramp. Sadly don't have an image. Any idea what their purpose is? • Over the last few...

Unusual train movements between Barons Court and Hounslow Central and other questions?

Yes, there aren't many timetabled services from Ealing Broadway / Richmond to High St Ken / Edgware Road as you say. However if a service is severely delayed or there are issues beyond Gloucester Road (in particular during the peaks), it may be terminated short at High St Ken for service...

    Waterloo Station Upgrade

The passageways between Platforms 19 & 20 (Main & former International parts) seemed to be closed on the two occasions I visited Waterloo today. Not sure if appropriate signage was provided to notify passengers of this; quite a few were puzzled after walking half way down Pl 19.

    Feltham area resignalling

Yes, it is due to close in April, a specific date has not been given yet. And the temporary footbridge is now open to the public I believe. I will keep an eye out for changes in signalling in the area.

    Feltham area resignalling

Sadly the footbridge is still closed to the public. It looks like it is missing lighting, so hopefully just a 1-day delay. On the plus side though, trains are no longer held on cautionary aspects on the approach to the level crossing site.

    Clapham Junction station announcements

Despite Network Rail having taken over management of Clapham Junction from SWR recently, it seems that it is undergoing the same changes as most SWR stations, i.e. the ATOS system (and hence the voices) for departure boards and announcements replacing the previous one. It is true that some...

    SWR new services

These are new services, as far as I'm aware all Weybridge via Hounslow services will remain intact. The rough patterns are as follows: Morning peak towards Waterloo • 4tph from Reading via Richmond • 2tph from Farnham via Richmond • 2tph from Windsor via Richmond • 2tph from Kingston Loop via...

    Changes on SWR stations' PIS

At Twickenham (Platform 5, anyway) trains do show as having "Arrived". They seem to be a little unsure of how to shorten "Windsor & Eton Riverside", as that is too long to display without scrolling. The original was "Windsor & Eton" then changed to "Windsor & ER", consistent with the exterior...

South Western Railway franchise could be under threat

I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere - the independent review report is up on SWR's website. Outline: https://www.southwesternrailway.com/other/about-us/independent-performance-review Full report...

    Doors closing long before departure

I can think of a few sources of error. The guard may have read the time incorrectly, or the platform clocks may have been showing the wrong time in the first place. Or perhaps they saw the signal clear and decided it must be time to go. But unless the train left immediately, I'd think that...

    Feltham area resignalling

Looking through the platform-facing windows, there doesn't seem to be much happening on that side. To me, it looked like it was being used to store electrical equipment, but there may be more to it.

    TfL Rail - confusing map

The overly repetitive CCTV & smoking announcement was removed a while ago, probably in prep for the changeover. "Please have your ticket ready for inspection" still goes off after every station, though. Don't know if further changes have been made yet.

Class 707 - SWT: Introduction into service

Yes, Hounslow and Syon Lane take 8 coaches maximum. Isleworth takes 7 or 8, depending on stock used. The remaining Hounslow loop stations are all long enough for 10 cars (I think) but that still doesn't stop the 707 PIS announcing short platforms from time to time.

    SWR Repaints and Refurbishments

I saw it yesterday sandwiched between two other 450 units in Clapham sidings. Doesn't look like they're in much hurry to get it back there.

    SWR Repaints and Refurbishments

They're coming thick & fast now. Spotted four more today: 450 008 450 028 450 072 450 125 It will probably be difficult to keep up from now on.

    SWR Repaints and Refurbishments

450 093 now has SWR stickers. Edit: 450 079 too.

New South Western franchise: Awarded to First/MTR

Maybe in the last couple of months, yes. I have been turfed out at Ascot not so long ago though. 50+ minute wait and a Delay Repay claim rejected, about 12 hours after submission (rather strange given that some have been waiting months for a reply). They certainly have a lot to learn yet.

    Which station is this?

That'll be Baker Street! (There is a roundel just on the left of the image to confirm that)

New South Western franchise: Awarded to First/MTR

16.28 I think... Yes, that would make sense. (That particular diagram is a 707 for anyone wondering)
