Is it possible to change TOC after qualifying as a driver?

At the TOC I work for, you need to do 2 or 3 years or they can claim 75% of the training cost back.

    Medical of train conductor

That will not affect your medical as long as you can move freely on them. It's on a case by case basis stuff like that, though I'd say you'd be fine.

    Driving with contact lenses only

Exactly this. You MUST carry a set of glasses which you can meet the vision requirements with.

    Female Train Drivers

I know a load of female drivers. This particular TOC specifically hunted females as conductors for a short period behind the scenes and openly advertised for more females. Who very quickly became drivers ahead of plenty of others. I assume that probably happens everywhere. So yes good chances...

    Southeastern OBM Medical

Even though I have nothing to do with it, I actually appreciate companies even considering sending weekly updates out, it must be comforting for the potential employee!

    Medical Redeployment

This is what I understand too.

    hogan tests before interview

    Yeah I get you. Agreed!

    hogan tests before interview

It's a hard one as you still require accurate teamwork with guards or signalmen at times!

Which network rail apprenticeship pathway offers the best opportunities

As far as I'm aware there are that many NR contracts nowadays I wouldn't be able to comment!

    Train shunter

I know carriage cleaners on £16 an hour now, more at weekends. Fair enough, hard job. I agree though, easier to start lower level and work up.

GTR/ThamesLink Shunter Driver (0538) Three Bridges

Been speaking to a few people I know in the industry. If it's a TOC, full psychometrics required. If it would of been an external company or non-TOC so to speak, not necessarily required as they can dictate what they want. A TOC probably want you fully psychometric tested in case you need to...

GTR/ThamesLink Shunter Driver (0538) Three Bridges

Funnily enough on another forum somebody asked the same question, nobody was perfectly sure as to whether a depot driver/shunter driver required exactly the same requirements as a mainline driver, medical included as it was depot working only, working to local instructions - Not mainline at all...

    Latest on colour blindness testing

To be fair which folks will find surprising - I used to know an electrical engineer who was obviously safety critical, who couldn't pass the ishara test but could pass the lantern test. They passed every medical. Company discretion.

    Latest on colour blindness testing

Yes unfortunately if the ishara test is failed you you absolutely fail the medical. Apologies in advance

    Advice needed

If the bus job comes up I'd take it. At the end of the day in this climate you can't afford to be waiting around. Jobs will be filled without delay.

    Laser eye surgery

I agree. It is a great document. As I say, most employers are happy if you're able to pass a safety critical medical and they leave it at that. :)

    Just completed Tests (Advice)

Yes they are paragraphs. Every question is different too. Questions not necessarily railway related, if at all.
  18. B

    Laser eye surgery

I largely agree but if surgery was done while in a non safety critical role the cost would be minimal compared to safety critical. Still a small cost but not as much. Also LASIK recovers after 1-3 days. On the other hand LASEK can take up to 3 months, so there is that. Different procedure and...

    Laser eye surgery

The TOCs in the other thread listed have been known to just have the person pass the safety critical medical and they're happy with that.
