I’m on the 05:47 Hebden to Leeds this morning and just saw the most bonkers stock movement. ECS arrived into Manchester bound platform (1). Reserved out across the crossing to the Leeds line. Reversed back into the Leeds platform (2) to await departure. This train and the later GCR stock...
As a local I’ve often thought that Blackburn to Huddersfield would join a few dots and enhance NW-SE links across the South Pennines. Totally unsure if the demand is really there though the 901 bus seems to do OK as a Midi sized vehicle but lengthy journey time isn’t exactly attractive.

Yes, signal box is Grade II listed and is going to be protected. Crossover has been resignalled and the siding stays too. What happens to the SB in the long term is anyone’s guess, the stairs are being removed and grills put over the windows. There was a planning application earlier in the year...

Visted the hugely fascinating Middleton Railway in Leeds on Saturday for their “Coals to Leeds” event. Loads of engines in steam, silver band, food and model railways! Thoroughly recommended the worlds’ oldest continually operating railway!
Trains on boats, went from Germany to Copenhagen on the train ferry in the late 80s. All good fun until we our compartment was sleeping gassed on the return leg and all our cash / travellers cheques were stolen. That was a slow morning in Koln police station!
