Trivia: Stations only served by intercity trains (no local services)

Diss Station in Norfolk is served exclusively by intercity trains between Norwich and London. Are there any other examples of stations, which due to their location on main lines or otherwise, are only served by longer-distance intercity trains?

Trivia: Railway line with the greatest difference in service between peak and off peak frequencies

You are along the right lines. I'm sure the stations I have in mind do have a reduced service due to me regularly using them but I'm not sure by how much the service is reduced by.

Trivia: Railway line with the greatest difference in service between peak and off peak frequencies

Hi, What Railway line (or Specific station) has the greatest difference in service between peak and off peak. Please only consider stations that have a regular service (say on average 1 train every 2 hours or higher in the off peak for this) I'm guessing it has to be a commuter rail line...

Triva - Station with the most number of "first stations" served by it.

I'm curious what station has the most number of first destinations served on a typical day on a service? E.g. From Euston you get: South Hampstead for Overground Harrow and Wealdstone Watford Junction Milton Keynes Central Perhaps many more such as Bushey, Wembley Central or even as far as...

Seeking a graduate scheme in the transport industry

Hi I am a final year university student coming to the end of my degree. I study Project Management for Construction at UCL and I am open to graduate opportunities in the transport industry, from transport planning roles to project management and construction roles. If anyone knows of any...

    Inconveniently Sited Stations

Don't slaughter me for using an LU example but Euston square. The far end of the platforms are very close to the mainline Euston terminus and an opening on that end would avoid people having to double back if they wish to get to Euston from Euston Square. A bit biased as I am a UCL student who...

Trivia: Longest distance between any two London terminals?

I think I get you by direct only! Furthest but also quickest. Erm... I agree with Marylebone and Frenchurch Street. That seems impossible without like at least 3-4 changes.

Trivia: Longest distance between any two London terminals?

Frenchurch street and the C2C line is separated from the rest of the network from what I know. You'll have to use London Overground or Underground services to change at Upminster for example. I guess overground from Barking does count I guess. The london overground really means you can travel...

Why is Farringdon not classified as a London Terminus but other through stations are?

Surely a lot of people end their national rail journey at Farringdon! Walking distance to the city and also easy transit to the subsurface lines. Also now Crossrail comes in. I purchased a return ticket from Farringdon to Brighton last year and realised I couldn't use this when returning to...

    Why Coach Letters not Numbers?

I would have thought it is easier to then name seats as numbers if coaches were letters. A 3 digit system could be used like a hotel where the first digit is the floor number but a letter system has stuck.

    Famous people on trains

Saw Stacey Dooley a BBC documentary journalist on a train back from Brighton last year. She came down with her partner for Pride as did I visiting my friends and seeing the festivities for the weekend.

Why is Farringdon not classified as a London Terminus but other through stations are such as City Thameslink or Old Street?

Where would you like to see Crossrail 3 go?

Im not sure if I agree with Crossrail serving NW London. Living in NW, we have good connections via the tube. If it were to serve NW London it could potentially take over the WCML to Milton Keynes and potentially the Chiltern Lines as well (including through Sudbury with the longer distance...

Trivia: Most ridiculously named station in UK

Sudbury Hill Harrow and Sudbury and Harrow Road are both odd names. Why not just use the name of the London underground stations nearby. Particularly Sudbury Hill Harrow. Why is the Harrow there? With the latter atleast it is on Harrow Road.

How will Heathrow Crossrail prices be enforced

Hi it's common news how using Crossrail to get to Heathrow is going to be priced similarly to the current connect service which is more expensive than the Piccadilly line due to the airport charging a premium for using their tunnels. How will TFL correctly charge someone who gets on in zone 1...

Fantasy: Given no limits, how would you modernise your line?

That would be brilliant for a commuter from Preston Road like me who will get more services that do not run fast or semi fast in the peaks!
