    Ipswich Buses

They did have a little operating centre in Doddinghurst which was ok for Brentwood but still a fair distance from Loughton and Romford.

Boy, four, wanders streets after being abandoned on bus

Totally agree. Cannot believe people let their kids travel like this.

Boy, four, wanders streets after being abandoned on bus

Time for a rant. Hard hat is on and I wait for comeback. I am a bus driver. I am not a bloody childminder and I am not a teacher. I am a parent (x3) and I can tell you now there is no way, as long as my backside points downwards, that I would allow a four year old of mine to travel alone on a...

Stranded person and dead milage running

I can concur that an operator I worked for had a route that ran from A to B schooldays only and B to A at 2359 M-S. These were garage journeys picking up the fuel duty rebate on dead runs. It was as rare as rocking horse s*** to pick anyone up.

    Stagecoach Lincolnshire

I don't know Lincoln that well but do know Skegness. I have to say that the reduction in services followed by tweets stating cancellations points to a serious shortage of operating staff at Lincoln. Any bus company will be (eventually) slammed by the TCs for not operating the advertised...

    Regal Busways, Essex

I was completely surprised that they have packed up completely. Yes the bus side of the company became a mess as time went on but the coach side was really quite good. I thought that Regal Busways would disappear but Regal Explorer would continue. I am very sorry to see them call it a day, but...

Bus drivers, how would you handle a car blocking the road?

I have seen this before and believe there was a fault on the bus. It was obviously completely out of control and pedestrians and other motorists could have been killed. If this was on purpose I don`t think the driver would have taken out the shelter as well. Considering the car was not in the...

    Regal Busways, Essex

If everything was fine they would leave you alone. I was comming back from Canvey one afternoon when a number 3 in Southend had conked out. They phoned me 15 times in the hope I would return to Southend (I was at Howe Green with passengers on) to rescue the passengers off of the broken down bus...

    Buses not stopping when requested

You have missed a bit. The customer is always right. Not so. They always think they are right and most of the time they are wrong. It`s just a companies customer services that calms them down to make them think that were right when they were not.

    Buses not stopping when requested

The reason bus drivers pass stops when the bell has been rung is due to repetitiveness. A bus driver on a typical 12 hour shift may have the bell rung beside his or her ear up to 500 times. You become immune to it. I was driving a bus when four people stuck their hand out to hail me down. I...

Why do so many bus companies not run services on New year's Day?

That may be but most people will want an enhanced payment. I doubt you got it for boxing day but rail replacement seems to always carry an enhancement. If only the rail passengers knew how much of their fares were going into rail replacement bus services. Personally I have earn`t a fortune out of...

    Regal Busways, Essex

I worked for Regal Busways part time on and off for 11 years. They were the best company a PSV driver could ever work for. If you could overcome the complete disorganisation. In the time I was there I drove buses and coaches that were red, white, silver, green, blue and cream, maroon and cream, and...
