TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

Looking at this it appears to be a tracking error, with two buses tracking as the same fleet number?

A Cambridge tube coach, is there a case for it?

It was a bit surprising when they upped it to hourly recently - but I've used the journey around 3am before the increases at various times and it was always relatively well used. Not enough to warrant a doubled overnight service mind, but the weekends might justify it either way? As others have...

First West of England (Bristol, Bath & The West)

Looking at the timetable, looks like around 14 buses are needed for the X1 and another 7 for the X4. Add in some spares and/or possibly an extra bus needed at peak that probably would take you to 24? If newer buses are needed for Wells, would the newer Streetdecks be able to handle the hills? Or...

    Stagecoach Oxfordshire

Definitely more than needed - the city routes only use around 35-40 vehicles between them. I'd expect the electrics to run on the Oxford portion of the S7, which would use another 6, and maybe some midday boards on the S3, S5 and S9 where the buses outstationed at Chipping Norton/Bicester/Grove...

    Oxford Bus Company/Thames Travel

Also appears to be a cancellation of the ST2 listed here, which I'm not sure was expected? I'd assume we'll see similar registrations for Stagecoach on the 1 and 8 coming through soon, maybe for the 8 some adjustments due to the new traffic patterns following the St Clements bus lane have...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

If the frequency increases for the capacity trade-off are happening already then yes, that's exactly what I'd suggest! Although I do appreciate that operationally it might be hard to keep them on the routes for the new electrics, the small boost in capacity is urgently needed on other services...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

They must be - not sure how justifiable these increases are in the grand scheme of things otherwise! Hope this might give some justification to shuffle the fleet around a bit, maybe allow some ex-London B9TLs to run on these and put some longer buses back on the 49 to at least offer a little bit...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

I'd have to agree this does seem like a pretty disappointing set of changes, particuarly with no increases for Lothian Country but also for many routes seeing chronic overcrowding. Whilst the frequency increase on route 1 is definitely warranted, alongside extra capacity on Queensferry Road, I...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Not likely - the 31 definitely can't manage without them out to Bonnyrigg, and they're really needed on the 11 and 16 (althought the occasional shorter bus seems to just about manage). The 47 at the southern end I would say could manage without them, although I seem to recall being told that...

    Xmas (Winter Festival) timetables 2023

Relatively normal, just depends on the area - Stagecoach here (Oxford) are running a pretty good service. Dare I also say it, the service from Stagecoach here in general is significantly better than Lothian which I unfortunately have to put up with on a daily basis! Staying on topic the...

    Oxford Bus Company/Thames Travel

The ZEBRA bid seemed to suggest the ST2 and 46, but I wonder whether the 11 or 11X are more likely? These maybe look a bit big for the former, and there certainly aren't enough single-deckers on order to remove the minibuses and baby Enviro 200 MMCs. The Oxford Chiltern Bus Page suggests there...

Stagecoach West - Fleet News & Discussion

Interesting to see Lazzerini seats in these rather than the Smartseat, which has been standard for all ADL buses for the last 5 or so years. Can't complain too much, they're perfectly comfortable for all the services these are planned to operate, and looks like it'll be the same interior spec...

Stagecoach West - Fleet News & Discussion

The reasoning is as you have said to free up the SN69s for Bristol Park and Ride - but it does seem like a significant downgrade for the S1 which has always said to be one of the most profitable in Oxfordshire. I have also questioned if this is the best allocation for these buses, or if they...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Could some short workings on the 49 maybe solve this? Whilst capacity issues are only at peak times (as other posters have stated the 9 buses an hour is completely fine for the rest of the day), this would provide much needed extra capacity through to the infirmary. The use of ex-London buses...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Anyone in the know have any idea if something's going to be done about the overcrowding from Leith Walk through to Surgeons Hall in the AM peak? Buses are leaving us behind more often than not and the service is becoming almost unusable. It's very clear there aren't enough buses on the route -...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

It definitely would as a user and observer on the south side - my main question from all of this is why the route is being increased so much when very few other routes are having frequencies restored, despite in many cases being a lot busier! It certainly seems like Lothian aren't allocating...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Could the 25 cuts be due to the university holidays and potentially restored over summer? If I remember right the current timetable was only every 10 minutes from the September changes. Interesting the 8/9 is more than predicted here: was the 8 even that frequent for the northern section...

    Should Oxford have a tramway?

As a resident I don't think I'm saying much which others haven't said already but anyway - the city is certainly too small to justify such a network in the current state of things, with the Cowley Road and London Road corridors the only ones which could really justify such investment (which I...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

I reckon it should be fine, it's only taking off one (relatively empty) bus so shouldn't add too much pressure. Agreed with how busy the 3 is on this section though: shame there aren't enough tri-axles to run on it alongside the other services which seem to need them!

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Wouldn't surprise me - always see the 41 running very empty through Old Town! And the same goes for the 8, both parts could very reasonably be reduced to run every 30 minutes without leaving anyone behind from my observations and I'm sure others can also comment.
