Eurostar/SNCF connection issue - advice please.

Update as the original poster of this. Tried calling ES today but couldn't get through in the time I had. Probably due to the flight issues and extra trains etc.

Eurostar/SNCF connection issue - advice please.

Thanks. I didn't have a choice of time allowed when booking though as purchased tickets from London to Marseille from Eurostar so they decide the timings. The point isn't really how much time is allowed but who is responsible when a delay on RER (could be 5mins or 2hrs in some extreme case)...

Eurostar/SNCF connection issue - advice please.

Arrival at Paris Nord 17.47. Dept from Lyon 18.38. There is easily time if it all goes to plan. However we were at back of Eurostar which probably added 5mins walk, the queue at ticket machine may have been 5mins. The RER D was completely rammed but we squeezed on. It then stopped between...

Eurostar/SNCF connection issue - advice please.

Recently travelled London to Marseille and bought full return travel on Eurostar website. 1st complaint is the travel across Paris from Nord to Gare Lyon isn't included and this isn't mentioned anywhere on on obvious. The main problem though is that there wasn't time for the connection and the...

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

I've got absolutely no issue with people using takeaways or DIY shops. My issue is with the guidance that doesn't appear to allow their use. DIY shops are allowed for urgent repairs like fence fixing but 95% of people using them won't be doing repairs. Takeaways are allowed because you are...

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

Is going out walking/cycling/driving to collect food from one of the numerous places offering takeaways allowed? Could be independent kebab shop, KFC, Italian restaurant, Indian, cafe etc. People don't need this food and can easily get by with an infrequent large food shop. Surely collecting...

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

If you were really worried about an unlikely breakdown you could do a figure of 8 type route and never get more than 10miles from home with a 50mile ride

    Exit strategy predictions

Clothing shop for instance - you wouldn't need to go near staff. Pay with card. No person to person touching. Keep one metre away. Fast transaction.

I'm amazed hairdressers/barbers are near top of the list to re-open. Very close contact and not essential. Why is this?

Should there be Extra Social Distancing Instructions for Cyclists

NIMBYs. Tourism usually gets a needed boost from these events. Anyway a day of disruption from a few closed roads will seem like nothing after all this!

Should there be Extra Social Distancing Instructions for Cyclists

But cyclists are riding for exercise and shouldn't be stopping for any period of time. Why would anyone drive there if not stopping to get out and do something.

Should there be Extra Social Distancing Instructions for Cyclists

Maybe keeping 10m of riding directly behind another rider might be a good idea as they could cough or sneeze, but no other measures required. When stopped at lights they might look closer than they are as parts of their bikes are close but the riders heads are adequate distance apart.

Is the current aim to reduce or eliminate exposure to the virus?

The number of new cases info isn't quite as useful as a few suggest above as the number of tests conducted fluctuates and should be increasing. New cases reported could stay constant while actually decreasing at a good rate.

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

Can't see how this is any better for reducing virus spread or pressure on NHS than going himself.

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

No evidence to that extreme, but have seen people going daily for newspaper and this seems to go against the advice.

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

Another issue is car and motorbike enthusiasts making use of the quiet roads to drive for pleasure rather than necessity. Several reports of motorcycle crashes and deaths in local news in last few days.

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

Seems to me that if a shop is open then you can use it legally to buy anything, and can drive to it if necessary. Nothing to stop people having multiple trips out a day to different shops such as supermarket, hardware store, bike shop, pharmacy, newsagent, takeaway. On top of these trips they...

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

My point really is you wouldn't need a pint each day, you could get a larger amount of milk to last a week, and that could be part of a weekly big food shop. So any visit to a newsagent can't be called essential.

Enforcement of the new rules on social distancing, unnecessary journeys etc.

With corner shops/newsagents open is it allowed for people to get a newspaper and pint of milk or Twix each day?
