    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

A 730 has just left Old Dalby, 730016 has just gone passed me heading into Melton Mowbray to reverse back west, dragged by a 37.

    Arriva Midlands X6 Route

Used the X6 twice this week and both times it's been a single decker rather than the coach. Noticed as well the coaches that were running had been de-branded. I guess this rebrand explains it all.

Arriva Leicester electric buses still not in service.

Any idea when this 2nd batch will be in service? I'm a regular user of the 5A. Appreciate that the first batch for the Leicester services are late into operation so not expecting the bus from Melton to be battery powered anytime soon.

    Old Dalby Test Track

There's an article in the local rag here in Melton Mowbray today about this landslip, plus a few photos. Repairs to be completed by summer 2024... https://www.meltontimes.co.uk/news/people/work-starts-to-repair-landslip-at-old-dalby-railway-test-track-4579346

810001 passed by me through Melton Mowbray station a few minutes ago. Seems to be a few movements scheduled out of Old Dalby this morning on RTT.

    Ratcliffe Power Station

I work near Ratcliffe. Its been operational most days for several months now. Guess their making the most of it whilst wholesale gas prices are high. 1700250808 Ratcliffe can output about 2GW onto the grid at full capacity I believe

What is the longest bus/coach journey you have been on?

Hoi An in Vietnam to somewhere in Laos whos name escapes me. About 36 hours largely along a dirt track. The bus was full of freight as well so the aisles had sacks of stuff in them. At the border crossing we had to wait so the driver slung up a hammock across his driving area to grab some kip...

    Ivanhoe Line (Leicester-Burton)

Freight trains already use that loop to reverse in and out of the Burton line so definitely possible. Locos run around using Wigston North and Knighton junction..

    Aircoach.travel

Lots of digital advert screens showing ads for this service across Leicester city centre, plus there was a minibus parked up near the clock tower yesterday with staff promoting it. Good luck to them.

    Ivanhoe Line (Leicester-Burton)

Syston, Barrow and Sileby stations were branded as the Ivanhoe line during the Central Trains era

    The last coal train?

Forgot about steel production, or cement for that matter. I'd guess that most coal in these industries is imported rather than domestic though. Could be wrong though.

    The last coal train?

The few remaining coal-fired power stations use imported coal, although none of these power stations are used on a daily basis. Ratcliffe PS will be the final one to be decommissioned next year I believe. Can't be much market for rail hauled coal, especially domestic, outside of power generation.

    Class 93 Tri-mode Loco

TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

The 2 units that I photographed were the only ones outside at the time. Too far away to get any numbers unfortunately.

TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

I live in Melton Mowbray so took a walk to the test track. Can see these units in the distance at Melton RIDC, excuse the quality of photo, had to zoom a bit with my phone...

    Bus Stop Relics

Bus stop in Asfordby Hill, Leicestershire still has the old Barton Buses sign on it. They became Trentbarton back in 1989 according to Wikipedia.
