    Dear Railway Neighbour.... What3Words

A proprietary system "owned" by a failing company that causes more problems than it solves? No thanks. The emergency services have had problems: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-57156797 The fundamental problem with using "words" as unique labels, is that language is inherently contextual...

Are too loud and too many PRM alarms and announcements making travellers uptight.....

So you're saying the professionally-devised strategy was to irritate people?

Are too loud and too many PRM alarms and announcements making travellers uptight.....

Yes, they're discussing how *bad* they are. In the same way, I'd judge the SSS as being a bad campaign. Either the people who designed the SSS campaign actively wanted to irritate people, or they weren't capable of coming up with a campaign to get the message across without irritating people...

Are too loud and too many PRM alarms and announcements making travellers uptight.....

It's truly a wonder how the entire advertising industry has spent decades honing and perfecting the skill of subliminally getting a message into the public psyche without annoying them, and yet this is seemingly beyond the capability of the security services and their boats full of psychologists.

    Shoreditch high street: completely enclosed?

I went through Shoreditch high street the other day, and it occurred to me that it's completely enclosed for no obvious reason. Looking on google maps, it looks as though they've enclosed the line for entire section between Brick Lane and the A10. If, presumably, this is done so that a...

What would have passed Hertford North slowly at 0115 this morning?

Sorry, to clarify, it was Friday morning. Am certain it was a train, the squealing sounds of lots of rail wheels braking to a halt is quite distinctive :) Could have been the sleeper, but the timings don't seem right (too early for the southbound, too late for the northbound?).

What would have passed Hertford North slowly at 0115 this morning?

I was woken at 0115 by a rather loud diesel clatter followed by what sounded like lots of wagons/carriages/something halting on the line near me (just outside Hertford North). It seemed to be moving quite slowly, and stopping / starting fairly frequently. Does anyone have any data on what...
