All that’s happened since the closure, is monitoring equipment has been placed at the location. There is no resolution on the horizon (that’s from a Network Rail MOM this morning!) this closure is going to last way longer that predicted!

Speaking to a NR employee.. he says They don’t have the man power or even the knowledge of how to sort the problem yet.. so I’m not surprised if it’s been extended.. I think it is going to be quite a big project to sort out.

I work for a TOC. I’ve seen this happen. And certain people aren’t sacked they just continue to go off sick for 6 months, then back for 6, and off again for 6!

I expect some of this talk of altering sick pay, is to stop people “milking the system” and going off for 6 months when they’re not actually sick, and simply taking advantage of the system. That,’in itself, will save the company money and help staffing levels!!

Any “Non Scheduled” overtime so no extra Sundays, no staying on late / coming in early, and no rest day working. Because if this there will be plenty of uncovered work which means more cancellations.

Offer aslef the same deal as RMT.. strikes will likely be called off and the negotiations can be discussed toc by toc in the new year. It’s that simple. Attacking terms and conditions won’t fix this issue. The government have no clue how the railway ACTUALLY works.

ASLEF have received no offers at present. Potential strike dates have been discussed also.

There is no financial penalty so it’s easy to cancel services with no punishment. There’s also no rest day working agreement and lots of sickness, so services just get cancelled and management don’t really care as it’s below the average cancellation figure they’re striving to achieve! Why...

They’re currently big on customer service. So be sure to include that into answers and make sure you come across as pro customer service too!

Northern’s new announcers are staff members and volunteered to re record the onboard announcements. Better than the computer sounding robot voice that it replaced (in my opinion). You can’t please everyone I guess!

Most northern services run busier than this most weekends! Not ideal, but people have places to be!
