What does the ASLEF overtime ban actually mean. Previously they said they were banning contractual overtime. On their website it just says overtime.

Does this mean those drivers who work Sundays as extra will be working or not ?

Any “Non Scheduled” overtime so no extra Sundays, no staying on late / coming in early, and no rest day working.

Because if this there will be plenty of uncovered work which means more cancellations.

Based on reports from previous OT bans the TOC's will cancel way more services than needed and have a large number of drivers sitting around doing nothing everyday, while blaming the drivers for the cancellations

This will happen while with the other face they say they are putting the public first, but rather than pay the fine for cancelled trains, or give the drivers a sensible pay offer, they will make the travelling public suffer.

Sunday 3rd December Greater Anglia have cancelled everything on the Southminster, Sudbury, Harwich and Felixstowe branch lines (Harwich International only will be served the 2 direct trains that go/from Ipswich)

That happened on SWR with the first couple of blocks of overtime bans. Last time however they ran a full service and plan to this time.

Can anyone advise what the position is likely to be using GA between Ely and Cambridge on Sunday morning? In other words, is it a good idea to try, or should I just use the car?

Interesting question - as Cross Country don't get out of bed until lunchtime on this route and GN aren't running services could be very busy but as travel to London options are dire perhaps only Cambridge shoppers will be about ?

I guess Cambridge shoppers could be enough to cause the GA services to be packed? My instinct on this one is to give the railway a miss.

See each individual TOC website to see what the effect on the service will be. Links can be found here:
