Prioritisation of the Welsh and English languages in Wales

The problem is now it's almost beaten in to children in school, metaphorically speaking. Let them discover their heritage and culture rather than ram it down their throat. It's likely they'll take more interest instead of almost zero interest that occurs where I live. It's promoted in totally...

Prioritisation of the Welsh and English languages in Wales

The Welsh language isn't the problem it's the money spent on it that is. Let is find its own way, it will survive but keep trying to get more people to speak it by throwing money at it is counterproductive in my experience.

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Likely compressors are engine driven rather than by an electric motor.

    Bus Manufacturer News & Discussion

The Yutongs I've had misfortune to go on already rattle. One had most horrendous shunt in driveline when moving off from a standing start. Can't say I was impressed with any of them. The 23 year old Trident that's still in the fleet (or whatever it was called in 2002) is a much better bus!

    Transport for Wales Class 230

There is a better power to weight ratio. Even a 2 car 20x is best part of 85tons not 55 quoted (that's the power car alone).

    Transport for Wales Class 230

Power cars from 20x units were about 55tons alone and trailers 30tons or thereabouts so probably heavier than a 230 with battery packs.

    Transport for Wales Class 230

How much exactly has been spent? Multi millions is a little imprecise.

    Transport for Wales Class 230

Doesn't make a massive difference with an electric drive.

Potential future uses for class 68 & Mk5 sets?

Usually ran as pair of 73s at one end. It was like that every time I saw it.

    Transport for Wales Class 230

I'm fairly sure the theory that they use more fuel than a 67 was said to not be correct. I really would like to see figures to prove your point.

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

Yes, I'm aware, the previous poster was asking something different, which is what I was trying to explain.

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

I think what they were trying to say is OLE charges batteries and motors are always run off the batteries.

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

Possible but would not be most efficient way of doing it. Better to just run traction equipment straight from OLE.

Could the Class 99 be used on the Caledonian Sleeper to replace the Class 92s?

I'd be surprised, the working supply to the coaches is 1500V, half a rake reduces the current requirement not the voltage. I know some continental coaches are able to take different supplies but though sleepers were 1500V only. Happy to be corrected 1746394703 Exactly and I can't see how using...

[DK/SE/NO] DSB applies to operate direct Talgo services Copenhagen - Gothenburg - Oslo

Having been on these I wouldn't go as far as to say very comfortable! Also every time I've done it there's been no trolley service so an improvement is sorely needed for this route.

GBRF confirms conversion of Class 56s to Class 69s

56116 to 56135 is 20 locos and all were Crewe built; non of this batch was Doncaster built!

GBRF confirms conversion of Class 56s to Class 69s

Yes, last 20 were Crewe built and for reason given.

Could the Class 99 be used on the Caledonian Sleeper to replace the Class 92s?

Think we're heading into speculative territory now but ETS on 25kV isn't really going to matter and on diesel they're not load 16 but believe they need a 1500V supply?

Could the Class 99 be used on the Caledonian Sleeper to replace the Class 92s?

37s used to go and don't think a 99 is a lot heavier? Seem to recall 99s are about 113tons and a 37 was 105tons?

    Shunt move for passenger train

I would imagine sleeper portions being joined must be under a shunt signal?
