What was your destination? Wondering if CrossCountry via Reading would have made it less painful?

I have just come back from an exhausting trek from Witham (Essex) to Cardiff and back for a minor sporting event :-) . Yet again, there was no service on the Greater Anglia line from Witham to Liverpool St, with the dreaded bus replacement from Ingatestone onto the Central Line tube at Newbury...

GWR’s website does indeed warn. Their own mobile app, however, does not. I’ve taken this up with Seatfrog as their site gave me no warning.

Entire ticket was purchased on Seatfrog, not just an upgrade. Return journey is Cardiff-Witham, 2 passengers, one with a 16-25 railcard. Price was £145.60 for this trip which appears to correspond to this Advance fare (see picture): £87.60 plus £57.80 (one third off) is £145.40 so I guess...

There’s a question. How could I tell, with the bewildering range of fares… does NFM list advance fares too?

EDIT: GWR got back to me. Train for which I don’t have a reservation is a “local stopping service” and is non reservable. Fine, that explains lack of reservations. I now have an additional issue: my advance ticket is in 1st and this train doesn’t offer 1st coaches. I’m wondering how a TOC...

I'm off to London tomorrow with the family. I spotted what looked like a good fare on the NR website - Family Travelcard from Didcot to London, including all travel Z1-Z6, £21.80 each adult and just £1 for the kids, so 2 adults, 2 kids £45.60 - result.:D NR website quite happily advertised...
