Yeah different depot m8, going through the assessments and getting into a talent pool is a huge step forward to becoming a train driver either through that pool or for future applications. Best of luck if you prepare properly you should be fine.

I have also been waiting over 3 years in a talent pool with GWR with little recruitment planned last i heard, however i have used the assessment passes from the application in 2019 to secure another Train driver job so for sure while sat in a Talent pool get active with those passes.

I have been shortlisted for Cardiff and booked assessments for next week.

This can only be internal recruitment they have not advertised external if true..

Out of interest has anyone ever done the whole 5 year talent pool wait without a call ?

It got taken down yesterday morning, im 1 hour and 4 minutes away on google maps which is really frustrating.

Well on this site alone this thread has nearly 10k views. they advertised it on social media which many tocs don't although should as it gets to the masses. Its also around the most populated area in the country and they accept relocation, so i would hazard a guess its in excess of 10k...

I completed 8.5 i felt like i got them all correct. My understanding is accuracy over speed. Nobody wants to see someone rush and make mistakes. I would always view it as critical to find a fault and not rush.

Well i got the good news today i passed the DFFT test i had last week:D I never heard back from the other toc to see if it would effect my talent pool place had i failed. Luckily for me this is no longer a problem. (buzzing)

I questioned this dan with the opc by email they said its the tocs that you would need to speak with and would be up to them. I have now emailed the toc for clarification. i cannot see why it would matter when a toc doesn't require that test. will let you know when i get a response. To clarify...

Yeah i cannot see why you would lose a talent pool place for failing a test that you didn't need to take to get into the talent pool with the other toc that doesn't seem right.

im in exactly the same boat, i have mine this week. It seems fairly straight forward. All about concentration and not making stupid mistakes. will let you know how i get on.

i have a assessment date booked in sept but was offered a number of different dates from the 20th of august onwards so things are moving.

i have passed all assessments and live within range mate, applied well can't remember when tbh probably early July. still getting automated emails i guess they're just going through gradually.

I find it a bit strange they have had this application open so long, not sure if it still is. But it gets to a point where you just have to many applications to manage it efficiently surely. For example someone above mentioned 10k applications, unsure how accurate that is but wouldn't surprise...

i'm in the Plymouth talent pool. Its a daily dream i will get a call or email but as you say realistically its going to be a long wait. Interesting to see how all toc's approach this period over the next couple of years. Rail passengers are down a lot it's bound to have a knock on effect, yet...
