Tbh and I'm ready to be corrected but most vehicles before 2017 are euro5, unless the operator has upgraded them.

Derbyshire Dales independent bus and Coach companies of the 70s and 80s

Whites were purchased by Chesterfield Transport, most of the work was lost or passed over to Stagecoach.. Also you're right with wooliscrofts and Hulleys. I think the merger happended around 1979 and the split took place when Terrier bought Silver Service. I'm happy to corrected if anyone else...

Derbyshire Dales independent bus and Coach companies of the 70s and 80s

Whites of Calver used to operate the 65 / 66 over to Tideswell and Buxton. Silver Service later became Kingsman Travel after Yorkshire Terrier took over and closed it down to a coaching operation and running the X46 to Killamarsh. Most of the Peak District routes passed to Hulleys I think

CT Plus Yorkshire / Powell’s seeking to transfer routes

Could see the 6 (links the Hallamshire hosp with the south west), 61 and 62 (always carries good numbers from Hillsborough to loxley/stannington) and A1 between town and airport business park is normally full at peak times

CT Plus Yorkshire / Powell’s seeking to transfer routes

Powell's also put very low bids in for most of the South Yorkshire work, route 5 being a prime example (lucky if it carries 30 people a day), the tender price was at the lowest end of the market and to be honest would be very lucky to break even at best.... Who will now take over the work, Tm...

Trivia : Examples of orbital bus routes in the UK

Forerunner of the 18 was the 2 + 59 outer circle which used to run Sheffield - Hallamshire hospital, which at peak times famously took 3 hours to run end to end

    Substantive bus service withdrawals post-Covid

It's been confirmed in most of the local papers, my local route the 32/32a has been pulled completely.. I think it's time that questions get asked to the Sheffield City Council controlled bus partnership, it's been propping Worst Sheffield up for too long :(

    Are your buses good value?

Sheffield fares used to be, but until Travel South Yorkshire and the abject, useless Sheffield City Council created "Buses For Sheffield". This lead to BSOG being creamed off for supposdly bus improvement projects (check out the bus rapid transit project between Sheffield > Medowhall > Tinsley >...

Buses in Greater Manchester - Current State/Future

To quote the travel south yorkshire forum from earlier this year: "There’s so many good engineering staff gone from Olive Grove in the last couple of years, some of them had been on the job years too". "Correct 100's of years worth of knowledge and experience have mostly walked away from FSY, a...

Buses in Greater Manchester - Current State/Future

TBH Winston, most heavy internal maintainace is now done at Doncaster, not Olive Grove, which now just does basic maintainance unless it's contracted out to third parties now, most of the best engineers have either walked or retired unfortunately.

Buses in Greater Manchester - Current State/Future

Are you sure about sheffield!!!!, Worst Sheffield are one of the most useless operations within Worst. Perminant cancellations on the X78, last Tuesday no buses running on the route between 16:00 to 18:00 with my local route 36 being run down to hourly from every 15 minutes a few years ago, add...

Why is Trent Barton better than other operators?

The X12 ran under tender to Travel South Yorkshire (or SYPTE at the time) until Tates went bust, before that it was Dunnline/Veolia who took on a shed load of rubbish no operator in the Rotherham area wanted to take on. The X12 used to make a decent amount of money at peak times but carried...

Why is Trent Barton better than other operators?

The 767 Doncaster to Nottingham, I think was extended to Leicester around the same time the 909 Sheffield > Doncaster > Hull / Grimsby was created and the plan was to interlink both routes at Doncaster to create extra money for the East Midland business as was
