Hey sharetrades I applied but for Darlington think they had a few different places all up at the same time. It’s now just the long wait see if get through paper sift. First time applying for my self and never worked on railway either so going to be a long shot but who knows :)

Oh put me at ease a bit. Getting around 10/11 lines with 2/3 ommitions. I’m only practicing incase I get through to assesments. Would you advise practicing the others too?

Do they tell you how many Omissions you got? Also do u know if u got national standard or enhanced?

Oh wow Iv been so worried as my left eye is poor but should make it with corrections.

So there is no minimum uncorrected vision requirements? Iv heard there was at least 3/60 of something along those lines? Anyone have any clarity on this?

Sorry if been mentioned/asked already but how do you find out which TOCs require certain pass marks? I here some are happy with national and others want enhanced but which want which? I’ve applied for Northern rail and don’t know which mark they want/accept. Or any other TOCs for that matter...

Interesting to know. So they don’t have the email assessment to complete before interview? I thought I did see it say there would be assessments sent out. However like you say some people say they got interview straight away.

Ok that doesn’t sound to bad, was just worried I know I need glasses for corrected vision my left eye isn’t up to much and wasn’t sure if would get passed the uncorrected test but if I get that far il be straight down opticians to make sure it passes! Was going to get laser eye treatment but...

Thanks for the help. Think the only down side to this forum is tons of acronyms in lots of posts E.G (no pun intended) MMI DOO SJT/E and so on. Managed to look up others but not the DOO. Much appreciated

That’s good to here and cheers for the link, will check it out :). Iv only recently thought about train driving it’s not as if it’s a Hobby of mine but do like the idea of responsibility and all duties it comes with. Also keep seeing people say DOO, what is it have no idea.

What did the eye test consist of? Do you cover up your own eyes with hands to read the board or got they do it like in Opticians with glasses on blocking each one out separately. Just went for a hgv/lgv medical and only had to block eyes with hands.

Just wondering how people got on with their interviews? Hope it’s good news. May I ask I applied for Darlington post that’s closed a few weeks ago. I thought if u make paper sift they send you email link to do few tests online or did you just get straight interview?

Can ur ask once you passed how long did you have to wait? Were you put into a talent pool for months/years like some I have seen on here saying?

So have you managed to get a trainee possition somewhere? If so congrats! Appears super hard to even get any possition on the railway

I’m not sure hopefully 50 positions haha. Hopfully more than 1 I’m hoping like 5 at minimum but I wouldn’t have a clue.
