    Transferring east coast e ticket

Argh that's so annoying, I should have just gone for a normal ticket. The problem is I have sold the ticket to someone else and it is for tomorrow (15th March). It says it will cost him about 80 quid for the ticket now. How would I be able to find out what price someone would pay for that ticket...

    Transferring east coast e ticket

Hi there, I bought a print@home ticket for East Coast from Durham to London. I could no longer make the day so sold the ticket to someone else in my university for the same price as I bought it. I now realise that the ticket says it is non-transferable and is only good for the named traveller...

Why the seemingingly random availability of very cheap fares on East Coast?

But there are tickets available for early April, which is when I'm travelling up, just not the very cheap ones. Are you saying there is a time when normal fares are available but the budget ones are not released yet?

Why the seemingingly random availability of very cheap fares on East Coast?

Yesterday I bought a single from Durham to London for a Friday in about two months' time with a 16-25 railcard for 9.95, on the East Coast website. While not all the trains on that day were this cheap price, there quite a few, usually one an hour, right through the afternoon and evening. Today...

    Interrail Questions

I'm sorry to ask for info that must be available elsewhere, especially given bandwidth constraints, but I'd like some info from people with experience of using European rail transport. I'm planning an interrail trip with some friends this summer, using the youth 5 days travel in a 10 day...

How many mistakes can you spot on this map?

Not a rail thing but passenger ferries no longer go to Boulogne

    Google maps public transport

Great new feature on google maps which shows underground and bus routes when planning a journey: http://maps.google.co.uk/. All they need now is to link in national rail services and it'll be a brilliant tool :D

    need some FCC timetabling help

Thanks very much all. Does anyone know why Liverpool Street is listed in the timetable posted by Philjo of trains from Kings Cross to Kings Lynn? I wasn't aware that it was part of the Thameslink/Great Northern network

    need some FCC timetabling help

Well London to Ely that morning actually but if 0930 is the cut off point it should be fine. Thanks

    need some FCC timetabling help

thanks everyone. Just to check, when does the morning peak end for trains leaving Kings Cross? the ticket I have been sold to Ely is listed as 'OFF-PEAK R' in the ticket type section of the ticket, so would this be OK for a FCC train leaving KGX at 09:45 on Thursday?

    need some FCC timetabling help

I'm travelling to ely the day before (and coming back from cambridge). Would I be allowed to travel from cambridge on a return ticket which actually specifies London to Ely and back? Are there ticket barriers at cambridge?

    need some FCC timetabling help

Is there a decent resource for checking timetables? I need to catch a train from Cambridge to King's Cross using FCC this Friday evening (1st July). I know it departs at 20:26, either from Cambridge or from Ely which is slightly further along the line. Could someone with knowledge of timetable...

    High Speed Rail in Iraq

I suppose I should clarify that- the Iraqis are a skillful and enterprising people (and have been for millennia) so it's probably not surprising that they want a HS rail link to move them into the 21st century and into the wealth of their Arab neighbours. Nevertheless, for a country which was in...

    High Speed Rail in Iraq

Surely a bit embarrassing that there may be a point where Iraq has more high speed track than the UK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13909905 think it's ever going to happen?

Pro HS2 points needed for article

I'm really sorry to be asking everyone about this topic which really has been discussed to death, but I'm writing an article in support of HS2 to appear next to an article attacking the proposals. What are the most general points that I could use to support its construction? I gather that...

Any way to rescue a chuggy loco?

Unfortunately, while I have a few locos that run well, I have a couple that only run in fits and starts when given a little push and at a high speed. I probably haven't shown them the most care and attention in the 5 years or so that i've owned them (bought new and worked fine), as they've been...

    Thameslink expansion

Clearly there's a lot of hype about the new rolling stock, longer trains and station redevelopment (esp. blackfriars) but does anyone have any information on exactly which routes are going to be added to Thameslink as part of the Thameslink Programme?

    Cross-london mainline link

I realise that there's a historical precedent for terminal stations in London being outside central London, due to a 19th century act of parliament forcing them to not be in the centre. Does anyone know if there have ever been plans to link up some of the terminals to permit through traffic...

    Trans-manche metro

A huge rant? Not really. I think idealogically it's a good idea but you just have to look at what's happening between France and Italy right now to see the issues, so it makes sense not to for the time being. The main problem I see is that it effectively duplicates the eurostar route (albeit...
