    Megabus General Discussion

It's the main London - Leeds service, and is basically anything not continuing beyond Newcastle to Scotland. The stopping pattern could be as limited as Sheffield only, with most trips doing Leicester and Sheffield.

Route that goes round loop twice - is this unique?

That bus gate was appallingly unreliable, and a nightmare to reverse away from if you got there in a bus and found it broken. The local children enjoyed "riding" it when it went back up, and the mechanisms couldn't cope.

    National Express Coaches Discussion

The 315 ended up feeling like a bit of a slog by Plymouth, let alone arriving in Helston!

    National Express Coaches Discussion

It may well be more efficient to pair up a long trip with a shorter one

    Megabus General Discussion

Try emailing customer services and explain your situation. They may give you a voucher if not a "proper" refund as a gesture of goodwill. Delays do happen.

A word of warning, when I last caught the 110 it left 3 minutes early!

Trips by Bus and Coach: Your reports

Thanks to both @TheGrandWazoo and @RELL6L as always for their comprehensive trip reports. I'm envious of all of it, but in particular the community bus trip. I love those weekly services where you feel like you're intruding a little in the closed shop.

    Stagecoach acquisitions since 2000

Not sure if Robson's of Thornaby was in the date range you requested, or 1999.

Trivia: where indirect routes are more frequent between towns

Thanks. The perils of hurriedly checking times via Google Maps on a Friday evening!

Trivia: where indirect routes are more frequent between towns

Middlesbrough to Hartlepool - 41 mins on the half hourly 1 via Seal Sands, or 70 mins on the 36 via Stockton which is every 20 mins (but was every 15 for many years).

    Bingo buses since 1986

Geographically random, but Stagecoach had(/has?) the B1 in Mansfield and the 477 in Stockton

    Bus Map North Wales

Arriva's site does have some maps, but you have to be in their page for a particular town to find it. Try googling Arriva Holyhead to find their map of Anglesey, and Arriva Bangor for their Gwynedd one. Doesn't help much with the independents though.

    Hulley's of Baslow

For info, I used it on Sunday from Castleton. It arrived at approx 1040 and left at 1115. I think they are going to do quick turns at the Baslow end (due to the connections) and have recovery time at the Castleton end. It's a good trip - I think you get the best scenery going towards Castleton...

    Megabus General Discussion

There is a loose theme with the cross country numbers. M31 is fast Manchester - Bristol M33 is fast Birmingham - Cardiff M34 is a coach on the Manchester - Birmingham - Oxford corridor M36 is on the Manchester - Birmingham - Bristol corridor. There are too many stopping combinations to give...

Keswick Bus 77/77A - Which Is Better?

On a practical note, if you go the long way round to Seatoller, and then change to the open top, there is a toilet at the car park/bus stop! Agree both ways round are awesome.

Longest Megabus route in the UK

If memory serves correctly, longest is the M20 London to Glasgow via Newcastle and second is M11 London to Glasgow via Manchester, both operated normally with Panoramas. Third is M34 Newcastle to Portsmouth operated by Elites.

Trips by Bus and Coach: Your reports

Just catching up with everyone's amazing travels - always enjoyable! One thing I hadn't realised is that Stagecoach in Hartlepool's depot on Brenda Road was ex-Tees and not ex-Hartlepool Transport. Do you know how that came about, @TheGrandWazoo ?
