    Rugby Signal Boxes

I believe NR and RN are the other way round as it seems that the codes used are from south - north. I was also told that KR is Milton Keynes - Rugby.

    Eurailscout: Whatever happened to it?

It got sent to Europe in 2008 I think.

    Canonbury Curve

Do charters count? Pathfinders Buffer Puffer 9 traversed the curve from Finsbury Park to Canonbury the other weekend.

    Evesham-Worcester redoubling

Hopefully all finished and reopened as I'm on the deltic tour Saturday that is booked to travel over this line.

    city thameslink OHLE?

The tunnel you are thinking of is Tottenham North Curve Tunnel No1 which is before Kentish Town when going into St Pancras. This leads onto the GOBLIN line between Gospel Oak and Upper Holloway.

    Even Healey Mills.

    Station bagging?

I caught the Grand Central service to BDI which is one of the services that does actually terminate there.

    Coventry Improvements

The bay is still there, I'm sure I have seen Chiltern units stabled in it this year. Not numbered anymore according to the NRE map though so presumably not used for passenger services at the moment!

    Coventry Improvements

Looking at NRE from Leamington journey times are 35 mins via SOL and 36 mins via COV so in theory should not make a difference. Altough in the southbound direction it is 25 mins via SOL versus 33 mins via COV. Also, as these services come from Manchester or Newcastle then I would expect...

    Coventry Improvements

I didn't think there was much capacity available between Cov and New St now without adding in an additional XC service every hour as well. Also, the XC routed via SOL departs BHM at 33, the same time that a LM service departs to NMP (and beyond) so one of these would need to be replanned!

    HS2 - register your support.

Problem is that the £34 billion, as has been pointed out either here or on other discussions about this, is allocated to HS2 or nothing, there is not an option of spending it elsewhere on the railways if HS2 does not go ahead. Whatever the rights or wrongs of HS2 we should look at the fact...

    Glossop - Deansgate.

According to my 1994 P5 book 303048 was not refurbed so was never fitted with gangways. Believe it retained this status right through to withdrawal and eventual scrapping although it was originally going to be preserved. This didn't happen as the unit still had the original asbestos insulation...

    Glossop - Deansgate.

303s were gangwayed within the unit which is why I didn't mention them.

    Glossop - Deansgate.

I always thought the Deansgate trains were worked by units off the Alderley Edge/Crewe services. I cannot recall any Glossop / Hatfield services going through but it is possible that some may have done in the peaks. The non gangwayed stock you refer to were Class 304 units.

    Bi-di Piccadilly-Oxford Rd

28 August 2009 I did the Bi Di "wrong line" through Piccadilly P13 and Oxford Rd P4 before crossing over for Deansgate P2 on the 17:30 Piccadilly - Cardiff Arriva service! Train was diverted via Warrington Bank Quay to Crewe due to an incident in the Wilmslow area closing the line for a...

Help with B'ham New Street Station

Going through the main station barriers to get to platform 9 you will need to turn left. Platform 9a stairs will then be on the left hand side of the walkway and are clearly signposted from what I remember. As for 1st class as it is a Cross Country service it can be at either end of the...

    Who uses Rugby station building?

The EWS mess you are thinking off (still has the sign above it) is no longer used by them, part of it is used by VT staff as locker facilities whilst another part was used by Fastline when Intermodals ran. Pumpkin cafe has been closed for at least 3/4 months and the VT staff area is part of...

    Who uses Rugby station building?

It is still used by DBS traincrew, though do not see many people using it these days. Freightliner have mess facilities at Platform level at Rugby near the Customer Services area, whilst London Midland use the old Red Star offices as their mess facilities.
