The £8.20 ticket you mention South Yorkshire Connect Plus (formally SY One Day Travelmaster) is valid throughout South Yorkshire by bus, train, tram-train and covers from Dore to Thorne North or South, Derby Dale,, Darton and Moorthorpe, and thus offers good value for money.

The Swinton fare is the same as Sheffield to York and “any permitted “. Therefore valid via Doncaster or Leeds or Pontefract, in my opinion!

Suggestion: at Leeds ticket barriers show your ticket to staff to be let through, rather than using the battier (oops... barrier!) machines. It saves time etc if the machine does swallow your ticket!
