    Favourite Station to Interchange at

I totally forgot about Carlisle in my post. Glad others have mentioned it. Marvellous station, marvellous City. Spacious, light and airy. Amazingly i also have a soft spot for Crewe, although the station really is in need of some TLC.

    Favourite Station to Interchange at

Birmingham New St- Plenty of trains. Not usually a problem if you miss one. Plenty of shops both inside and out. Bit dull on the platforms, but what do you expect. Dovey Jnc- For totally the opposite reasons! What a fantastic little station. Lancaster- Lovely station, with the grand old...

Overground brand 'to be rolled out across Britain'

Not a problem at all. In fact, id go one extra, just for you Northerners. Send the Pacers themselves to Virgin, and you can have the bendy pendies. At least then you have stock for Liverpool to Manchester. Id be more likely to travel on the WCML as well. Pacers to Glasgow:D Ah, fantastic.

    Morecambe Station

I believe I was thinking of a different tower to everyone else anyway. But hey, it'll never happen. Unfortunately.

Time to go and find out!!

    Morecambe Station

Ah Morecambe. Got a soft spot for that place. Once had a Birthday Party at Frontierland many years ago. Could be a lovely place once again, but needs a lot of money spent on it. Frontierland needs reopening as well, and that tower kept! Cant go getting rid of that. As for Lancaster. Its a...

OK, to stop the arguments, lets call it Eynsham Parkway!!

    carlisle to glasgow

Stations- Lockerbie, Carstairs, then the usual suburban stations onwards up to Glasgow. The highest point on the WCML is on this stretch, up at Beatock. Passes quite close to the Solway Firth just north of Carlisle. The 2nd closest the WCML comes to the coast. Passes the border just by Gretna...

Rethink urged over 'absurd' HS2-HS1 link

The main reason i believe for the CTRL, was for International services. However it was mentioned from day 1, that the line would also benefit locals in Kent, and that local high speed services would be introduced at some stage. So yes, the local services may have been later on, but they were...

Rethink urged over 'absurd' HS2-HS1 link

Not a very good check for whether there is demand or not. Going by the same method as you have. I live near Ashford as well. I very rarely go to London by train. If I do, its usually to travel up North, say to Crewe, to head out on a railtour. If I wasnt an enthusiast, my trips to London by...

    Electrification east of Selby

Have you taken electricity costs into that? The usage charges are down the bottom of that document. An extra 1.13 pence per electrified vehicle mile. Still cheaper though, and thats without diesel being taken into consideration for the 180.

The UK Railway Network- a true network?

Nope. Closest is at Dungeness, but even thats still a little way. No need anyway. All rolling stock leaves and arrives by road. That only usually happens if leaving for a heavy overhaul though. Or perhaps if the RHDR and the Ravenglass play swapsies!

    Linlithgow Station

Most stations have free car parking in Scotland i believe. The obvious exceptions being the NR run stations. Im assuming Falkirk stations are seen as more than just station carparks. Certainly Grahamstone seems like more a public carpark for the whole town.

Railway stations that need to be refurbished

I admit it is dreary from the outside, but never had a problem inside. Well nothing that a few more lights wouldnt solve. Be interesting to see what the concourse turns out like after the works. For some odd reason though, I never had a problem with BRs 1960s concrete construction. I like...

    Your favourite railway stations?

Marylebone for London stations. Norwich (Lovely bright station) Lancaster (Need I say anymore?!) Crewe (Although it could do with a tidy up) Crianlarich, and most of the other stations up the WHL Altnabraec (Trainspotters paradise!)

Railway stations that need to be refurbished

Am I the only one who likes New Street? Ive never had any problem with it. Always the best place to change trains. Look at the screen. Platform 5000, brilliant, off I trot! OK I admit its a lot lot worse than it used to be, but thats down to the influx of pendys and vomiter voyagers, and...

    Railway Stations By The Sea

The Thames is navigable by sea going vessels up to Teddington. Certainly thats where the rules are in foce up to.

    Railway Stations By The Sea

What about areas of water navigable by sea going vessels? Could you get away with saying the Thames is actually part of the sea right up to the first lock, as thats where the official rules of the raod are in force up to.

Which stations can we be proud of?

Theres a lot of sense in the above. I myself have mixed feelings on it. If you stand in front of the Eurostar platforms and look along the station, then its awe inspiring. No doubt. The outside architecture is the same. However I do believe it has a few too many shops, and EMT and SET are...

    Britain's most beautiful railway structure

Going to have to be exactly the same for me. Perhaps adding in Bristol Temple Meads, and the original part of St Pancras. ie not the new ugly extension. If i have to name a number 1 though, then The Forth Bridge. Hands down. No contest. Loved the bridge ever since i was a child.
