I can’t for the life of me remember the number but I’m sure forum members will remember that recently a class 37 was ejected from, I think, the Wensleydale Railway, and the owner tried to take it to Embsay, without that railway’s permission. It was rejected and subsequently spent I think 2 weeks in a nearby lay-by.

Does anyone know what happened to it after that?

Could it be at Kinsley? , there's a class 60 and something else in a storage yard next to the Doncaster to Leeds line just south of Fitzwilliam. Its been hidden by foliage over the summer but is now becoming more visible as the leaves fall

Edit. Its shires removal groups yard I'm thinking of, the locos are visible on Google maps sattelite view, the 2nd loco is a class 37

With clearing trees is the Kinsley place visible from any passing trains or is not lineside? I need those two 60s supposed to be there and can find nothing on google maps.

Can't you go looking for them, like we used to in the good old days prior to Internet? It's fun you know, with a real.sense of achievement.

Are they still there? I stumbled on them totally by accident a few months back going around the estate on a test drive for a car I was viewing.

Won't get a photo from the line.

What's the third? There's something sat alongside the 37 in the shade!

Earlier in the year there were four locos, 60050, 60086, 37503 & 31454, I believe that the 31 is now at Nemesis Burton

Went past today on a 331, you only get a split second to take in what you see but the leaves have cleared enough to make out the 60 is in ews red, that there is a 37 next to it and just a hint that there is a 3rd loco beyond the 37. If its your 1st time looking it will be a struggle to look in the right direction and then process what you're looking at

Thanks for the help. It would indeed be my first time. I would be travelling up from London and am not familiar with that line which was why I was trying to use google maps but could see nothing that looked like locos!! If I at least knew an area and the correct side of the line it would give me chance!!

To be in with a chance of seeing them on the way north from London you will need to be sat facing backwards on the west side of the train, you will pass the location 2 minutes after passing through South Elmsall. There's a stretch of countryside followed by an industrial area, the locos are behind the North end of the first warehouse that comes into view but as I say its only visible for a split second, and you'll likely be travelling faster than the 331 I'm usually on

If you do a Google search for randalls fabrications you'll get the building the locos are hiding behind, you will be 200m or saw past the building before you will be able to see behind the building at an angle

Thanks for this, very helpful and gives me a fighting chance to go for. I guess I could always change at Doncaster and board a slower train if it would help matters. Really appreciate your help.

You're welcome and good luck

A 331 will probably be going a bit slower and if you sit at the front in the single seat you get a full window with the best possible view

I have been looking at google maps and can now see them, thinking of getting off at Fitzwilliam station as it looks walkable from there so hopefully see them from the road. Annoying at the moment is that LNER seem to have diversions again next weekend between Peterborough and Doncaster making for a substantially longer journey on the way!!

That is correct as it's intended destination changed their mind while it was en-route from Wensleydale....….
I was under the impression that they'd never given their consent to taking it in the first place?

That's what's been printed in the mags etc.

If that was the case why would the owners arrange for a haulage contractor, which has to get abnormal load authority from Highways England for the movement to take it there if Embsay had said no in the first instance?

I passed 37674 heading up the A1 into Northumberland earlier tonight. Found a new home?

It is indeed on the move, has been noted around the Edinburgh bypass with Police Scotland escort - Facebook has it down as heading to the Strathspey Railway.

Appears that it went up via Warkworth and spent longer there than ideally desired but moved on before the police attended.

It brought the streets of Alnwick to a standstill as it passed through. I haven’t got any photos of my own but some have appeared on Facebook groups.
