Hi,

Does anyone know whats going on with 175002?
It crashed in Whitland on 19 December 2011, was just wondering does anyone know if its being repaired or how long to its back?

In the repair shop according to another thread, that makes at least two 175s down,another on loan to ATW open access until September.

Amazingly, this unit is now back in service, I think from today.

175002 is working 1V68 04:54 Crewe-Milford Haven, 1W25 11:10 Milford Haven-Manchester Piccadilly, 1V92 17:30 Manchester Piccadilly-Cardiff Central, 1B92 21:04 Cardiff Central-Carmarthen.

It's been out a few days already, started the 06:30 Piccadilly-Milford Haven on Friday, and was on the 07:50 Piccadilly-Llandudno on Thursday

Also 150217 which was acting as a portable abattoir on July 12th en route to Fishguard and derailed also back in service.

Now 175005 is out of action, it has a massive hole in the drivers cab roof on one end. Was being towed to Chester

175005 might now be away for a while, it was on 15:21 Cardiff Central to Holyhead on Friday 10th August with 175009 leading.

I'll make a guess. On Thursday evening 1V92, which was the train involved,
was struck by some railings which fell onto it at Cardiff East due to to the landslip.
IV92 is the 17 30 from Manchester due Cardiff Cen at 2058 which fits in with the time of the incident.

The damage doesn't look that bad tbh. The frame doesn't look bent and the bogies seem ok it looks like the sacrificial areas around the cab did their job.

Hardly a lazarus like recovery! Simple repair job in the main works.
