Anyone have any idea what a 180 would have been doing at Darlo at around 15:10 today? It hadn't been reliveried, and left after a 142 arrived

Grand Central are testing a 180. No idea why it was at Darlington as GC don't go to Darlo. Maybe its one of there diversion routes if Northallerton - Yarm is closed. Goes up to Darlo and reverse.

Well, Middlesbrough - Yarm isn't closed, cos I saw a 185 leave for Middlesbrough when I was back in Leeds. It wasn't IN the station either, it was on the avoiding lines on the outside

They MIGHT be route learning or route clearing IN CASE of a FUTURE diversion. So therefore they would need to know if the 180 could get down the route via Dinsdale. It might have just went of down the ECML unless you seen it go around the corner in the Dinsdale direction.

GC learn York - Newcastle via ECML in case of set moves, or the need to change sets and cap a service at York.
