The only time I've done this curve was Saturday 17th December 1983 on the Christmas Cracker II railtour behind 40028.

That's a very common curve for charter trains to take, I've done it twice in the last 8 weeks. I also did it on a loco-hauled service train in 1994 when the Didcot avoider was closed.

I can beat you on that. First did it behind a Peak on the 'Western Invader' on February 24th 1980 (my first F&W/Pathfinder tour, age 9). As @12LDA28C says, it's quite a common curve for charter trains.

As far as Westlink Junction from both Central Junction and City Junction the existing alignment remains. Westlink Junction is 112m17ch. The new bit is from there to Grand Central where the buffers are 112m39ch

A bit late but 29th October, Reading to Reading West and Basingstoke, as a Network Rail employee I have the advantage of the Great Western £6 tickets so planning on doing all the lines from Reading (to Redhill and Newbury-eventually down to Westbury) and the Windsor, Henley on Themes, Greenford and Marlow Branches) then down to the south West past Exeter......at least that's the plan lol
