Will the newer trains run at 65mph in the open sections?

No the maximum is lower, from memory is either 80km/h (50mph), or 90km/h (56mph) don't think it is even 100km/h (62mph) which is highest for Inspiro design. Sorry can't be sure, and might be mixing it up with other stock.

Not sure there is anywhere on the line that can take that speed, the current trains max is only about 72km/h (45mph)

LU tends to specify a maximum speed of 60 mph (102 km/h) and is what has been specified for the new trains. Indeed the existing 1973 tube stock is capable of 60 mph too. The pseed they will do in service will be determined by the signalling system in force. When the new trains go into service this will be the existing system - i.e. 45 mph.

It is usual to test new trains at 10% over the rated speed, but this will only been seen on the test track and not on LU

Given that current trains are actually being slowed on some lines due to complaints about noise l wouldn't exactly hold your breath about new trains going faster even with new signalling.

pedantically, you have all the right digits, just not necessarily in the right order.

60mph is 96(.561) km/h

I think you meant 100km/h, which is 62(.137) mph

The new TfL Board papers re mayor's trnsport strategy have a photo of the inside of one of the new Piccadilly line trains on page 74

The grab poles aren't upright, but tilt back, there is a TfL roundel behind passengers ankles, and the chunkiness of the air conditioning ducts between the triple windows is now possible to see. The arm rests between the seats are fairly tall and slim (does anyone really have arms that are thin enough not to hang over the sides of these?)

That has been the artist's impression since the revised interior a few years back, which in my opinion looks more brutalist.

Yes, those armrests do look a bit thin

After having a quick "flick" through, it would seem by this latest update that replacement of the Bakerloo line 1972 stock is being prioritised over the replacement of Central/W&C 1992 stock (rightfully so).

This doesn't look anything new compared to the last set of images released, or the physical mockup that Siemens built.

Will they start withdrawing the 1973 stock first or will they introducing the NTfL first?

I suppose it will be like most fleet introductions/withdrawals... If a unit develops a terminal fault, it might be taken out of service (a la 5173 and 5197 in the case of the A Stock) prior to the new fleet coming on stream, but generally I'd expect to see 10 or so NTfL's available for service before the main withdrawal programme commences.

Looks really nice , If only they could be introduced from 2024 it would’ve been amazing! The govt needs to give more funding for these projects
