Does anyone know what happened to the above service this morning?

It is shown in the ATW Journey Check as being cancelled at Warrington due to an operating incident. Then, presumably what was intended to be the service re-started at Chester at 0755, was delayed by 20 minutes, also due to an operating incident.

RTT says:

This service was cancelled between Warrington Bank Quay and Llandudno Junction due to an issue with the train crew

Presumably a replacement train was sourced at Chester, but it took a little extra time to arrange this.

I don't know if it is related, but last night at Manchester Piccadilly, the 19:30 and the 20:30 Piccadilly - Cardiff were cancelled, along with the 21:34 ATW Piccadilly to Crewe

Passengers were being advised to take the 21:04 Northern stopper to Crewe and change there.

It would have been the same "operating incident" as the root cause is given
and impacted on more than one train.

Yes - that was why I was wondering what that "operating incident" was that impacted firstly on a train at Warrington and a little later at Chester.
