Mentioned on the 313 farewell tour is a 321 farewell on the 29th April. Does anyone have any definite info on this?
Shame if so as I'm away that weekend!

All the timings are available in Real-time trains. Starts with 1G16 09.40 Liverpool St to Clacton. Ticket details to follow, presumably information will be posted on GA website.

The paths have already been published and are visible on RTT:

1G16 09:40 Liverpool St-Clacton
1G17 12:40 Clacton-Walton on the Naze
1G18 13:29 Walton on the Naze-Harwich Town
1G19 14:46 Harwich Town-Stowmarket
1G20 15:44 Stowmarket-Southend Victoria
1G21 18:05 Southend Victoria-Liverpool St

A shame there's nothing on West Anglia or up to Norwich, and no rare track other than a couple of loops. However it's certainly a lot more interesting than the 313 tour on the same day!

If it was original 321s then it would be more interesting than the refurbished 321s as they don't sound the same since the windows were sealed up and motors replaced.

A bit like asking for a Pepsi/Coca-Cola in a pub and getting served supermarket own brand cheap cola. Yes it might be Cola but it isn't the real deal

Both Ilford loop lines, including the Up loop around the back of Manor Park, Chelmsford Down Goods Loop, Colchester Goods Loop and Manningtree North Curve are quite rare for GE passenger service. Express runs along the Southend line are also unusual and normally only reserved for the first and last services from/to Southend Airport

No less 'triggers broom' than any of the steam locomotives.

I know at this stage there isn't much information released, but will this Class 321 event be a railtour as such? The 317 one last year was announced as the final day of working and went back and forth on the same route all day, so the fact that this is covering quite a larger section of the network and multiple different branch lunes makes me wonder if it'll be something different, and if this will still be a working passenger service? Sorry if this post is a little confusing, I've tried to phrase it so it makes some sense.

It is a railtour not a passenger service as far as im aware

Its a pity the stock used for this will be renatus units, there would definitely be a lot more interest if it were un refurbished ones, and even though they’re in storage they all have been pan down unused for over a year

Okay now the links live I Can share some more concrete stuff...
The 321 Farewell!
After much speculation, with the Timings being found on RTT last week, We can now officially confirm that yes, on the 29th of April 2023, Greater anglia is holding a Class 321 Farewell. Link for tickets is here:

Like the 317 farewell last year, The CEPG will support this tour, selling merchandise to fundraise for its heritage EMU projects. we have been working closely with the team at GA and would like to thank them for organising this and for being open to such discussions.

The team at CEPG have been hard at work designing and prototyping promotional material to be used on the day, this includes Window Labels, Route Maps, Posters and Brochures. More things are planned and more will be revealed closer to the time.

Ticket booked! I’ve not had much affiliation with the 321s on GA, but I used them quite a bit on the Doncaster to Leeds line so it’ll be nice to be on the farewell for them.

Has anyone printed out their ticket yet? I’m really curious as to what it looks like on the card stock.

I must be getting old. As a very infrequent user of Anglia services I'm only just getting used to those 'new fangled 321 electric units!'

I collected my ticket yesterday. Interesting wording - valid for one journey from London Liverpool Street to any Greater Anglia station (valid on GA only, standard class).

Having seen 321’s in East Anglia since the days of First Great Eastern it’s nice they are getting a sendoff. A pity they can only use a pair of Renatus units though.

Question to anyone who’s picked up their ticket - can you simply insert the card used to pay for it in the ticket machine or does it require a booking reference? I don’t appear to have received the confirmation email although my card was charged.

PTSO or platform depending on the weather

Yup a credit to GA.

In a way, I'm glad a Renatus set will be used as it saves me having to choose between the 321 tour and the 313 one. I'll say my last goodbyes when I'm next in Clacton.

Hope everyone has a good time

Mine went straight to spam on Gmail, it was from GA Business Team. It has a standard eight character alphanumeric code like the rest of ToD.

Sadly I cannot attend tomorrow, but I still have my ticket as a souvenir. I was going to sell it on here but not sure if it’s allowed.

Thanks for this. The website isn't even letting me log in either. Hopefully I can sort it all out at Liverpool St. tomorrow.
