EWS 37422 allox OC - EH tomorrow. No idea of timings. Wont be on the above charter for all you wishful thinkers who want it to be. As it wont be. Needs breaks done, and to go on the loadbank, then be tested. All takes time. Its moving to EH as EH has more capacity than OC and much better load bank.

37406 now allox to OC so a decision to just stick 37406 on it due to 37405 not being needed for whatever reason. Typical. Still booked for a single EWS 37.

Is indeed 37406 solo, the train is only load 8 to keep within the ETH index of a single 37/4.

Was indeed 37406 which seemed a bit quiet but we nonetheless managed an on time arrival at Penzance. Return was again on time but we then stood for some time at Par and then crawled all the way to Liskeard due to a lightning hit on the signalling. Plymouth was left 70 late and the weather was pretty poor.
At this point the tour had become pretty tedious but at Exeter St. David due to platform 5 being occupied by an engineering train the tour called at platform 4 (the normal down fast platform) for the scheduled crew change. Normals for Cambourne had to be discouraged from joining the train. However what initially appeared to be a drunk sneaked on board and wandered down to the last coach.

Many regulars feared that we would be put aside to allow a delayed Padd HST to overtake us as it was estimated to be only 10 minutes behind. (The tour seemed to be a sort of unofficial EWS and Network Rail Staff Day outing!).
However we were let out in front. As we passed Taunton it became apparent that the drunk was actually a patient who had wandered out of a hospital somewhere. This was confirmed when he started to strip off and it was noticed that he still had the ECG pads attached to his torso. The guard was contacted and he liased with EWS control and the initial plan was for him to be dropped off in to some care at Hungerford.

For some reason 37406 suddenly seem to find a second breath on departure from Westbury and we started to claw back the lost time. After a further appraisal of the situation it was decided that our unexpected guest would be unloaded at Reading rather than Hungerford and this duly happened. I though it was somewhat ironic that the only normal in the coach was taken away by men in white coats!

Arrival at Clapham Junction was around 40 mins late confirming the validity of our low risk statedgy (parking up at Gatwick)

Was working sat night 'til 8, & heard the train at Tavistock Junction starting it's run up towards Hemerdon. Didn't sound too bad, but heard better, despite the dismal rain & thunderstorm lol.
