LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman was the motive power for The Railway Touring companies 5th Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express Railtour of 2015 . The tour would start at London Euston with a class 47 and a class 50 (47237 & 57314 ) taking the train to Carnforth where 46115 would then take the train over the 1 in 75 climb over Shap to Carlisle with 46115 then returning over the S&C with 46115 coming off the train at Farrington junction . We first see the 46115 working hard through Oxenholme on the climb towards Grayrigg bank . This is a location that was a classic location for spotters and I have not seen it used for well over 50 years as it was treed in until a few weeks ago when Network rail opened up the shot by felling all the trees also a big thank you to the farmer for allowing me the access to his fields . The return would see the Scot piloted by a class 47 after 46115 allegedly started a lineside fire .

there was definitely a lineside fire, I went past after 46115 did (I was on the 12:41 from Preston) and we had to stop and then go slow past it - about 10-15 minutes south of Penrith on a 390 iirc. 46115 was in Carlisle already

You must've been on the 390 ahead of me! I was on the 11:37 from Wolverhampton and we went through the same procedure. There was a Network Rail Hilux and fire service appliance to the West of the line when I went through.

Caught a nice wee glimpse of Leander and Scots Guardsman on the way through Carlisle :)

8-)

There were a couple of fireman at the top of a banking in the area, couldn't see a fire there but there was one a little bit further up the line
