OK In response to #312 #313 and other posts. I think its healthy to have different points of view and a sensible conversion here. I respect what you say and not offended. My point was obviously that the derailment at Eastleigh was unexpected and SWT XC ,other TOCs the freight operators and Network rail ,as well as emergency services ( no-one injured, no apparent crime , or likelihood of fire) had to react very quickly and work with the co-operation of people ,I hope, like you and me just doing our best. Skilled people ,other workers and relevant equipment had to be bought to the site.People needed to man the phones ,reply on social media for passengers with questions. Buses, coaches, taxis had to be unexpectedly used to move people; all needing people, some new to the area, (workers, crews, and passengers) to move people. Some are, I believe, working 12 hour shifts to 'get the job done'.I believe some people were diverted from repairing the derailment and track near Barking, and delaying that work.
Anyway, I see 'Eastleigh' is more or less back to normal with temporary track until permanent work can be done.
Thanks to everyone involved . From what I see, passengers were kept informed via the media and Network Rail info.I know there are more important things to worry about (as in Streatham, China etc).
