hello. I am a railroad fanatic living in Korea.

While studying mechanics in high school and junior college, I also watch railroad cars.

I am writing to ask questions.

56081, 56097, 56098 I would like to know your future plans.

Currently, it has been confirmed that GBRf is converting to a class 69 locomotive.

I have a question while looking at the data, but locomotives 56081 and 56098 are currently operating.

And I found out that 56097 was also sold in preservation.

Will 3 locomotives be retrofitted to class 69 in the future?

Translated from Korean to English with Google Translate. There may be grammar mistakes, so please forgive me.

Also, since I am a Korean, I ask for your understanding as there are many things I do not know about British Railways.

The comments in this thread https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...-56s-to-class-69s.180582/page-30#post-6154430 suggest that 56081 and 56098 will remain class 56s and 56097 and 56009 will take their place in the 69 programme.

56097 appears to have been sold on from preservation as maintaining a class 56 is a costly and difficult matter.
It was more for personal reasons than the costs of maintaining it, though the situation at Ruddington and the GCRN didn’t help with no trains running for nearly 3 years now.

56301 is the best example of a 'preserved' (privately owned) 56. It used to be hired out but it has been 'under repair' at Leicester for ~3 years now. Therefore I think @JonathanH isn't too far off the mark.

Regarding 081 and 098, they are both in good working order, so it makes sense for GBRf to carry on operating them before spending money.
