Anyone go out to see it?
60009 is hauling a rail tour of Mk1's with 33202. 33202 from FM rail will be bringing the stock back with 45112 tonight and 60009 is stopping at Barrow Hill until next Saturday. It'd been running well over 2 hours late, punters down GCR had told me a lot gave up and left.

Anyone aware of what the problem was with the A4?

I WAS on my way to see it. Apparently it was partly delayed when taking on water at Kew East Junction. Driver got a bit excited and overran so a new hose had to be found at the local fire brigade.

Dagenham drivers doing what they do best!
seems as though Freightliner drivers like a big of clag, even the 66/5+66/6 give out clag at Ryhope Grange on the Earles Cement, as we were saying before the 66's have got quite a few mlies on the clock now, not as good as the 47's/57's though

cheers

Ah i think this tour started out of Victoria. If so it was delayed by a spectacular unit failure in that area somewhere.
A Thameslink 319 pulled up with power problems and phoned a friend {spoke to a fitter on the phone} who advised pushing the DC reset button. The driver how ever, pushed the Ac reset button, which raised the pantograph, which twatted a signal, which queued a melt down

An explaination from a friend:

The reason that the steam lost time in the Acton
area, was that it needed to take on water. No
provision had been made for a water stop between
leaving Alton and arriving at Kettering. Thirty
minutes lost at Acton Wells for water and a wait for a
path at Silkstream Jn., meant it wass 50 odd late by
St. Albans. It lost more time to Kettering, basically
caused by very tight timings, and running on the slow
lines, Bedford passed 61 late, Wellingborough passed
70 late. It was booked 20 mins for a water stop at
Kettering, which actually took 40 mins. More tight
timings around Corby saw it lose more time. It got to
Loughborough at 15.10, against a booked time of 12.59.
North of Loughborough, via Toton, it actually pulled
some time back, but was still 112 late arriving at
Barrow Hill at 16.07.

The return journey was put back an hour, from 16.20
to 17.20. Then a compressor fault with the 45 delayed
the tour even further. The fault was fixed by fitters
at Barrow Hill, but the tour left Barrow Hill at
18.12. The 45 remained pretty much 55 late all the way
back. Regarding the St. Albans stop, originally booked
for 19.30, it was retimed to 2040, and then with the
late start, it actually got back to St. Albans at
21.35.

I got a vid of 60009 at Harpenden. It's at www.freewebs.com/railatestuk
