60040 failed in Northallerton Cripple Sidings!

When working in the Northallerton area 60040 suffered a major failure. The loco was brought off its train and shunted into Northallerton Cripple Sidings, the first loco to visit in some years.

Today the loco was seen having been inched forward onto level track and had a wheelskate put in place ready for a transfer South, expected to take place tonight.

Ahh so thats why it's called cripple siding because locos that are essentialy crippled are kept there out of the way of those fast 91s lol, good shots also

Yes, thats exactly why they are called cripple sidings or cripple roads becuase they are used to temporarily stable stock that is busted.
