Hi there

I collect old bound Victorian magazines, one of which is titled The Leisure Hour. In issue number 1316, published on 17 March 1877, there was an article / short story entitled: A Winter's Night on a Locomotive. This I have uploaded as JPEGs. They have been reduced in size during the upload but are still readable.

It was set in Germany. I am almost certain it's fictional but it comes across as if it could quite easily be a real life story. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of 19th century German railways might know whether life was really like this on the German railways.

I have 1-2 old articles from other magazines on railways. One is on refreshments and railway stations and was published in the early 1840s. When I'm next scanning from my magazines, I might look to scan those in as well.
