If 170204 had been written off, wouldn't it have been stripped for parts and gone for scrap by now? The fact that it hasn't been seen suggests that it is inside works being repaired.

The version I've heard is as it was being repaired the amount of work needed to be done to it has kept increasing and now the insurers are quibbling. Both the leading and the centre vehicle suffered serious chassis damage.

Are we sure that it's not already being used as a "Xmas Tree"?

The thing is these rumours always spread with damaged vehicles. Unless someone has a direct quote from the TOC, repairer, insurance company or ROSCO then it's really "wait and see".

204 just has more severe damage than first thought particularly to the 56 (centre) vehicle. Possibly returning initially as a 2-car unit.

I think it's unlikely that there are insurers involved. Most Roscos are self-insuring, that is, underwrite their own risk of incurring costs. Public liability insurance may exist but indemnity for assets is highly unlikely.

Partly true. TOCs generally (I say generally because I don't know for certain that it's true for every one, but I would be surprised if it wasn't) self insure up to a point; beyond that point they have cover. This level of damage would normally be covered by insurance. I say this having been involved in insurance claims in the past.

You may well be right HH. TOCs would definitely have Directors & Officers Liability (in case they were found negligent over a decision that bankrupt the company), Business Interuption and Public & Employee Liability too.

I'll try to find out whether ROSCOS have train fleet insurance though.
