I don't think it's been answered up thread but who is funding this MBO?

40% Mitsui continues we've been told. Will Matsui and Japan East Railway continue?
We'll providing finances are ok, Greater Anglia from a service point of view are doing as well as any TOC so no need for OLR in that case.Sooo.... it's to rebrand as "Transport UK Group", oh dear, shades of GTR here. A customer facing name, as Abellio is by Nederlandse Spoorwagen, could be brought in - maybe "Movia" or "Expresso" something like that? Terrible suggestions I know
Seems obvious it's not going to OLR/DfT for now, a stopgap measure until GBR begins. This new company possibly could end up running some region for GBR under the GBR livery as Abellio are with the London buses in the uniform red livery.
It's not a re-brand. Transport UK is the new company. It can brand itself as anything. None of the rail contracts use the name Abellio so there's no need to change them. The only UK operation that trades using the Abellio name is its London bus operation and that can be renamed as anything.Sooo.... it's to rebrand as "Transport UK Group", oh dear, shades of GTR here. I'd imagine that its just a name for now and they might rebrand later. The brand of the parent company doesn't matter too much if they don't want to put the branding on their companies.Transport UK Group sounds like a name investors in Shanghai or Mumbai would come up with when launching UK operations, not something a UK based consortium would think of. Hopefully, they put more thought in to operational decisions!
Exactly.I'd imagine that its just a name for now and they might rebrand later. The brand of the parent company doesn't matter too much if they don't want to put the branding on their companies.
What would you be expecting from a UK-based consortium?Transport UK Group sounds like a name investors in Shanghai or Mumbai would come up with when launching UK operations, not something a UK based consortium would think of. Hopefully, they put more thought in to operational decisions!
It's not a consortium.What would you be expecting from a UK-based consortium?
My question was to the person who described it as one. It's not a consortium.
Fair enough. My question was to the person who described it as one.
Just as well that Abellio UK is going to a management buyout, otherwise Sullivan's and Uno would be the only UK-owned operators running TfL services! This means that 5 of the 10 London bus companies will have changed ownership this year:
DWS - Stagecoach, Tower Transit, HCT
Kinetic - Go-Ahead
Transport Group UK - Abellio
No change to Arriva, Metroline, RATP, Uno or Sullivan. Not yet anyway!
It could still eventually get taken over by an international player, such as Transdev.Just as well that Abellio UK is going to a management buyout, otherwise Sullivan's and Uno would be the only UK-owned operators running TfL services!

Indeed, for example :The corporate name need not be the same as the name plastered on the sides of trains or buses.
That’s an interesting question, nothing seems to have been mentioned in the official media since AugustDid anything come of the buyout, which was slated to be complete in December? I note that the Greater Anglia website still references Abellio. Still going through (slowly)? Abandoned?
It's not happened yet. That's all I know. That’s an interesting question, nothing seems to have been mentioned in the official media since August
Indeed, for example :
East London Bus & Coach Company Ltd
South East London & Kent Bus Company Ltd
Lea Interchange Bus Company Ltd
All use the name "Stagecoach".
First MTR South Western Trains Ltd uses the name "South Western Railway".
First South West Limited uses :
The Buses of Somerset
Cornwall by Kernow
Adventures by Bus
Truronian
Etc, etc.
Correct.Your "trading as" name can always be separate to your legal company name, however, you must always declare the latter which is why it is always on the foot of the website, side of the bus etc.
It's not happened yet. That's all I know.
