Hi

Will be in South manchester tomorrow and there is no way that I'm driving there. Need to get to Old Hall Lane which is some 3 miles south of Picadilly Station. Therefore, I will need to get a bus from Picadilly (Routes 40 - 49 except 47 I believe) to complete my journey. Do I just ask for a plusbus extension to my return ticket specifying the Manchester end of my journey? I don't know how plusbus works really.
Thanks all

Yup, thats exactly what you do :)

A ticket will probably be issued from Manchester to Manchester+Bus - it will be printed on normal NR ticket stock.

So long as your journey starts outside the Manchester PTE area.

Or, you can ask for a PlusBus ticket at your destination, providing you show your rail ticket.

If it didn't then he would be getting a Bus & Train Daysaver.

If he's travelling after 9.30

As it's not clear where he's travelling from or when I thought it might be useful to add as the entire county is a larger restriction than for most plusbuses.

Yes, that's a good point. If he's travelling from within GM and it is before 0930 then the best he could do would be to get a regular train ticket and pay on the bus separately. He could get a Bus Only Daysaver for £4.90, or a Stagecoach Dayrider for £3.50 but given that he's only going to Withington it might not be worth it. That corridor has the cheapest bus fares in GM so if he gets Magic Bus or Finglands both ways it could be even cheaper than a Plusbus.

If saving money is important then, if the journey is wholly within GM, then he might just use bus for the whole journey and thus pay £4.90 for the whole day.

Just ask for a return Manchester Plusbus when you buy you ticket tomorrow.
Any Wilmslow Road bus will do[41 to 44/46 which returns as 47/48/142/143/X57], you can even get the 50/130 to Birchfield Road http://www.gmpte.com/pdfmaps/network/2_manchester_south_210111.pdf

Thanks! i'll be taking the train from Wigan Wallgate at about Noon if that's any help :)

In that case you are best of with a Bus & Train Daysaver for £5.50. That gives you unlimited bus and train travel within GM for a day after 0930, and also free travel on the Metrolink between Victoria, Deansgate/Castlefield and Piccadilly. You could also use the bus to get to Wigan Wallgate station if you want for free, and buy it on the bus, as long as you are within Greater Manchester.

Deerfold was very wise to ask his origin point!
