Good evening,
I’m new to the site and I’m currently looking if anyone could give me some advice or point me in the wright direction to how I could get into a rolling stock technician/engineer role or semi skilled fitter in the railway industry. I’ve tried the apprenticeship route which I’m happy with doing but keep getting put in the reserve list which is disappointing. I feel that my age 31 has a factor when it comes to getting the job haha. I’ve got a intermediate level 2 in engineering maintenance and installation which I gained whilst serving in the military working on tanks. So I do feel I have transferrable skills but feel as if the apprenticeship is the only route and with them closed now till next year I feel like I’ve hit a dead end. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
