Can you buy an all Ireland Rover ticket that covers Northern Ireland and the Republic? I've planned to buy a Zone 4 I-Link card that covers all of Northern Ireland But I might buy an all Ireland Rover ticket if:

1. Such a ticket exists
2. If there's a not much of price difference.

There used to be an all Ireland rail pass, but this was withdrawn a few years ago now.

The only way to cover all of Ireland would be to purchase a pass for the republic, then either;

  • Pay the relevant fares in Northern Ireland (including any cross border journeys)
  • Buy a smart card for Translink & use that effectively as a rover ticket
  • Purchase a Sunday NI rail pass

There is an interrail one-country pass that covers both.
It's not that much more than the Irish Explorer ticket, but is (unsurprisingly) a lot more than the iLink ticket.

An Iarnród Éireann 4 day trekker ticket at €110 covers the ROI, and you can buy a couple of returns for within NI, e.g. Dundalk to Derry, Coleraine to Portrush, Whiteabbey to Larne and Belfast to Bangor would cover it fully.
