Nottingham used to be called Snotengham but you don't hear any residents saying let's go to Snot!
Nottinghamshire is abbreviated to Notts quite often.
I would say Notts people dish out the nicknames, if I told you what the Forest fans call Derby fans, I'd get kicked off.
Also, Nottingham is a better city then Derby ;)
I recall a letter printed in Viz, which was something along the lines of:

If, as Freddie Mercury sang, fat bottomed girls really do make the rocking world go round, isn't it about time the city of Derby was recognised for its contribution to astrophysics?
- Stu, Nottingham

Stevenage is sometimes heard as “Stevenage New Town” (as in “Welwyn Garden City”), mainly used by those of a particular generation. There’s a certain derogatory connotation to this.

Likewise the name “Silkingrad”, although this has fallen out of common use.

Both these names will probably die out completely in time.

Saint Evenarrrjjj, I will have you know. Or, "The Nidge" by locals.
