Just seen a really random train go past (Saltaire)

it's 11.35am.

There was a loco (couldn't work out what it was) pulling a DRS 37.

The loco was a weird turquoise colour and looked like a single car dmu but i am blind.

Any ideas?

Yes. It wasn't a loco. It was observation saloon "Caroline".

Sounds like the correct answer, "Caroline" and 37409 "Lord Hinton" observed in the loco sidings at York this morning, I wondered what they were up to.

So "Caroline" wasn't pulling the loco, rather it was being pushed by the loco...

Could well have been pulling, it was in front..

What do we know about Caroline?

Ex Southern Region General Manager's inspection saloon, converted from an unpowered Hastings unit trailer coach. Originally fitted with SR control gear to work in multiple with any compatible SR EMU, or class 73 or 33/1. Now owned and used by Network Rail as an inspection saloon and converted to Blue Star control to work with any Blue Star locomotive. It was definitely being propelled.

It has to be propelled, there's no propulsion system on board!

Certainly being propelled (or hauled) - as it has no engine!

you don't get as good a view of the line ahead when being hauled!
